I decided it was time to refinish the stocks of my home-spun rolling block .22 carbine. I stripped them, hand sanded them to 3000-grit, then finished them with Minwax. It came out great- I'm really happy.

would guess it's quilted or flame maple with a touch of color added, but would like to know for sure as well... it's OUTSTANDING...

Wow what kind of wood Is that? It's Quilted Maple- the color comes from Minwax Cherry-wood stain.
