Sixshot.....isn't it that time of year? I unfortunately missed one the other day at 35 yards with my shorty 41 mag. must have been a long winter......now begins the long but fun curve of getting back into shooting shape before fall hunting season. Hope you and other members here have been out terrorizing them. If you have, I hope you post some pics. It won't be long and they will all but disappear until next spring.

Chucks (we call em groundhogs here) are a rare sight. But I can offer you armadillos and possoms?

yup... woodchucks here... nasty critters that burrow under the foundation & floors of farm buildings causing them to crack & crumble... they are shoot on sight around here... outside doggie for the most part keeps them off the property here...

We don’t have the chucks of any form. But the vermin are out in full force! Got another ground squirrel yesterday with the 69.

wyo, sorry for the delay, we just made another boat run over to Boise! Two weeks ago one of son's bought a drift boat in Boise & going over, in spite of a terrible head wind we saw a lot of Rock Chucks. You always see them along the interstate from Burley to Mountain Home. Yesterday the same son went boat crazy on me & bought 4 more boats, yup, FOUR! This time an Old Town canoe & 3 pontoon boats, he has 4 sons. Anyway the wind was even worse this time, it would blown the paint off the passing lanes. We probably saw at least 100 Chucks & they all had their heads down because of the wind. If it had been a good day we would have seen twice that many. There are a lot of Rock Chucks along the Snake River canyon, we've shot lots of them there & that's where I shot an Albino back in the 70's. Not to hard to get permisson if you ask some of the local farmers & they don't have livestock in the fields. We saw several dead one's on the road & maybe 6 dead Badgers. In our area they are just starting to come out good, I shot one last week with my 9mm carry gun as I was going to a funeral, probably saw 15 but they were too close to the high way. Plus I do have some friends coming in a few days, I'll let them do the shooting & I'll do the spotting. Their ammo has already arrived.

Sixshot... Looking forward to the Chuck hunt report. I am trying to talk a good friend of Mine into heading up into the big horns in a couple weekends to see if we can try our luck at hand gunning a few....If it happens, I'll post a report. In the mean time good luck to you and your friends!

I was out in Wyoming last week and thought for sure I would see a bunch to shoot at, but the only ones I saw where when I was driving in the Big Horns

Cmillard the big horns generally have a healthy population of rock chucks. You don't seem to find as many in the lower elevations. The family and I were on a hike last weekend up steamboat rock, and saw quite a few. Only got a shot at one and unfortunately missed due to lack of practice over the winter. They are out in force like you say in the 5 to 7 thousand feet elevation range right now. The hunting should be ideal in a few more weeks, when more of the snow comes off the higher elevations.

Yep, ol' Sixshot is the Rockchuck whisperer, for sure: Dick, feel free to show Mike and Mike what they look like, below (Grin). I'm pretty sure you won't have to show Larry (Big grin):
