I shot a black bear with their 325gr 2400 data out of my 480.
I use their 475L data for the 325 as the crimp groove to the base of the bullet is the same length as some of the testing .500 bullets I use in the 500JRH when starting new loads for uncharted territory.
I've always thought this was available, at least it has been for the past 2-3 years IIRC. They just don't list their 275gr bullets for the 475 as they do list them for the 480.

I don't know if the ammo I have is unique to 480 factory ammo BUT. I have always gotten between 1450 to 1480 fps from the Hornady 325 gr XTP factory 480 Ruger ammo. I consider it to be Hot Stuff ! And that is threw 3 different 480 Ruger 7 1/2" barreled SRHs and using 3 different chronographs. And tho this ammo may not be currently available ( I don't know if it is or not) Its some really zoomy stuff. Nice to see a component manufacturer publishing data that supports this bullet weight and velocity.

I found the 475 L data pretty disappointing compared to the 480 data.

I thot the 475 L. Data looked kinda loopy. But, the 480 data looks great.

Lyman's 3rd Edit., Pistol and Revolver Handbook has besides the data, articles. One by Brian Pearce on the 480. He says and shows in data, that the Hornady factory loading of their 325gr XTP can be duplicated 26.3grs of H110 for 1298 from his 6" FA 475. His load data takes that H110 on to 28grs and 1434 fps. Loads here have been with Power Pistol or Longshot but am getting ready to follow Squigz over to 2400 or maybe IMR4227 ?

Got good results but was much more comfortable with 2400 as it was cleaner and didn't have the left overs in the cylinder.

Thanks. Have used a few lbs over the years, mostly in the 44mags. Did put a few of the 385gr HP's thru the then brand new 480 BSBH.. Yup, unburned powder. Annoying only maybe..but..

I've found that Accurate#9 was pretty clean burning and gave good velocity. I would like to try some 4100 but haven't yet. 4227 hasn't been my favorite. But it did push a boolit out the barrel . I thot it was kinda odd that the data I had for it showed 1 powder charge for several different boolit weights in the 45 Colt (Ruger loads).
