I seen to remember a previous discussion on this but can not find. I want to get a 500 JRH in a barrel just past the ejection rod [4-3/4]. I emailed BFR and got a confusing reply. They said "most of our barrels are measured from the front of the frame.. The 5.5" barrels are actual length and the 5" 44 mag is actually 4-5/8" Industry standard is to measure from the end of the barrel which is just in front of the cylinder. That would make a 5.5" barrel close to 6" and why would a 5" 44 mag be 4-5/8"? I thought I read somewhere that BFR had gone to the industry standard of measuring barrel length but evidently not.

This is my 5.5" 500 JRH, with a custom 480 Super Blackhawk, with an actual barrel length of 4.8" measured from inside the cylinder window, to the muzzle on the Super Blackhawk...

I believe the Precision Center guns are "correctly" measured, while the regular production items are not. I will confirm.

I have a production JRH 5.5 and a Precision Center JRH 4 5/8's. Both are correctly measured and industry standard from front of cylinder.

My standard production 7.5 inch BFR in 500JRH measures 7.5 inches from the end of the frame. The box has a space to indicate the barrel length but the factory left it blank.
