Oops. Bad email address? Mine was just kicked back. Have to go to the Lipseys site, and post it under contact us. Jason sent an email response that needs some positive reinforcement. Don't see why it is such a forbidden topic .

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Ruger to reintroduce something that not only was discontinued but recalled and destroyed by the thousands. Not to mention the market they were aimed at being swallowed up by FA and then fading into darkness.

But in the meantime I will keep the additional Freedom Arms and a nimrod on my bucket list.

I'll admit seeing the 357 Maximum again is a long shot but many people were betting we would never see Ruger build a 5 shot revolver either. We kept asking & they did it. The 357 Maximum was discontinued by a lot of misinformation by keyboard gun writers hitting the panic button over some top strap cutting with light weight bullets, which by the way only amounted to a very small amount of top strap cutting which stopped after a short time. When used with heavier bullets for which it was intended the cutting was never an issue. I'm pretty sure we will see a factory Ruger 357 Maximum before we will ever see a factory Ruger 500. All we can do is keep asking for the Maximum & see where this goes, if we show enough interest, who knows what might happen, that's how we got the 5 shooter.

Apples and oranges. I'd say we have a much better chance at seeing a factory .500 than another Maximum. Tiny market, a dead cartridge with a narrow application and an insurmountable stigma. I think we'd sooner see a stretch frame in a new cartridge to compete directly with S&W than any iteration of a .357 Maximum.

I’ve spoken at great lengths with Jason on this subject. Jason has simply been asking folks if it would be taken well to see one come back, would it be cool to see it revived. This is not on the radar screen right now and us sending emails bombarding them won’t get it done unfortunately. There are a certain obstacles that would have to be figured out before it ever got to the drawing board right now. So I say, sit back and see what happens. They have pulled some pretty cool rabbits from their hats over the last few years so let’s just wait and see.

Seems a 1.4 inch Max-like round would be doable with just a long 5 or 6 shot cylinder. 357 RugerMag in conjunction with Hornaday.
The standard frame will ALMOST fit a 357 Max and XTP crimped on the groove, right?

Since we already have the .454 Casull (almost 1.4" case), the .475 Linebaugh (1.4"), and the .500 JRH (1.4"), all of which fit into cylinders which fill out the Ruger single- and double-action frame windows, as well as in unmodified short-cylinder BFR revolvers, it would be really cool to have standardized .357 and .41 cartridges in this length that could easily fit in and utilize full-length cylinders. I would rather have the maximums or SuperMags in a stretch frame, but it might be easier to have these two cartridges added in the 1.4" case length and use existing frames. As has been said already, probably just a dream...

It may well be a dream, but I have been dreaming that Dan Wesson would also bring back their large frame as well as SuperMag revolvers so what is it to add another dream to the list. Here is another thought/dream, what if Ruger was to stretch the Super Redhawk frame and offer the Supermag family of cartridges? Well I guess I have to add another dream to the list.

Did this idea ever get out of the vapor-ware stage? I've been saving my pennies ever since I first saw this thread posted, hoping someone (Jason from Lipseys?) would hop on here some day soon and say "Brace yourselves! Coming this (October, November, December, whatever). Please, someone, make this happen!! And make it a Bisley Hunter model!!
