I've been wanting a Ruger 357 Max for a long time now. If they come out with new models and one especially with the Bisley grip, I'd be all for it. I would have to have the 10.5" cylinder though.
Maybe someday when funds became a thing, a second one made into a 414..

This is a great idea. I vote for stainless, Bisley, 10.5in barrel, drilled and tapped for scope mounts. Bill

Jason was at the shop over the weekend... Said something about a Stainless 357 Max... I am a long time lurker on this board, but this post alone will bring me out of the woodwork. :-) I finally got a Max last year. But I would jump all over a Bisley Max in blue or stainless. And the 10.5" flavor would be my choice. This is 2x better than the revival of the. 32/.327 single six!

I've been begging for a long time. Bisley 10.5" stainless, short 11 degree forcing cone, scope ready & flat bottom stocks. There you have it, a low recoiling, long range six gun supreme. Just load up some good 180 gr jacketed or cast & you have the ideal hunting revolver. David will be along shortly.

I'd be all over a 7 1/2" Bisley Hunter or 10.5" Bisley.

While I don't crave stainless, I do really like the idea of a new Maximum especially as a Bisley. It's a great cartridge and I think (or maybe vainly hope) that it could do better this time around if reintroduced.

If your talking Ruger,I wouldn't hold your water over it. Though the stainless would be the best choice in a Max, I would think they would want to open up the cylinder window somewhat. Now, does Ruger still have any of the Max specific related tooling and such? Doubt it, especially since they scrapped over 5000 completed guns and/or serialized frames. There were 6 original Maxis in stainless, 3 were destroyed. Yes, I do know where the other three are. One, you have to contemplate the liability issue in relationship to the original Max. In the litigious society in which we live, big companies , even though ownership has changed with Ruger, have a long memory, and two, marketability. The silhouette game is waning and far from it's golden years, which was the prime market back in the day. Hunting, great gun, great round for that. Ever seen any statistics on up and coming hunters? Doesn't look good, at least here in Pa. for sure. I dunno, just my two cents, well, maybe only one and a half cents......Jack

Never understood why BFR doesn't chamber the 445SM, 414SM, or the 357max in their long cylinder gun.

Nobody would expect a Max collector to have a positive view

Hell, don't matter to me!I love the cartridge! A little longer cylinder would give you more bullet options. I really don't think a NEW Max would hurt me at all.....may even just help.

At the risk of possible bias, I see a new Maximum as a good thing. There are a few details to get right. Accuracy of the .357 Maximum is exceptional and must be understood. There is good potential with .357 Magnum, and to a lesser extent, .38 Special. I do not see a liability issue. I was the doubter among Bill Ruger and Bill, Jr., and myself. We put a lot of stiff ammo through those guns, loads which had the hair standing straight up on a couple ammo companies----ammo they had pressure tested. Everything about the cartridge and revolver strength was proven before SAAMI certified the .357 Maximum and before most of the shooting world knew about it.
And Coogs may be right: a new Ruger .357 Maximum might excite interest in the originals. A new generation of shooters could get acquainted with revolver power without crossing the line that locks many out of the .44 Magnum. And make no mistake, the .44 Mag is a tough old bird. The .357 Maximum kind of power at moderate recoil encourages marksmanship. Without laying down all my cards here, there is potential.
At the same time, one or another lever action might submit to smoothly feed the .357 Maximum with long and short bullets. And, to ice the cake, smoothly feed .357 Magnums. David Bradshaw

Been watching this thread for a few days now, when I was a young whippersnapper I got one the first week they came out. I shot 3-4 hundred rounds through it and everyone got upset about top strap cutting and I panicked and swapped it for a Redhawk (still very hard to find those days) . I shot mt first Blacktail buck with the Redhawk and am not sorry I got the Redhawk but it would have been a hoot with the Max.
I’m all in for a Bisley Hunter as my eyes are not what they once were, probably need to get 2 Dogs thinking about front sights for one ! I would be in for 2, one stock and one to modify. Barbarosa

Yup, I'd like a 7.5" Hunter type. Either grip. Belt packable my thought.
