Looking for a comfortable holster for my 629 Mountain gun. Would appreciate advice from folks who carry one, or something similar.

Have a Barranti Hank Sloan. Very comfortable carrying my 4" 29. El Paso's threeperson works and looks great.

Barranti for sure, he makes rigs both for immediate sale and then custom rigs. Simply Rugged I like for a comfortable pancake style rig that can be worn on either side. Great for using packboards.
I have a couple N frame 4 inch rigs both by Barranti and Simply Rugged.

I have a couple N frame 4 inch rigs both by Barranti and Simply Rugged. I have no experience with Barranti’s but they always look really good. Simply Rugged has been my go to for holsters in revolvers. I get the IWB straps for extra versatility. My last pancake for the 4” model 57 works extremely well, even concealed, and is comfortable. Wearing it concealed right now. Can’t say enough about the quality. My pancake for my 4” 357 has held up over the years. Still as good as when I got it 9 years ago.

My main two are the DeSantis Speed Scabbard for concealed carry and a Simply Rugged for field carry. For hiking with a backpack on I use a Hill People Gear Runners Kit Bag.
If I ever needed an exposed type chest holster I would just get the Chesty Puller straps from Simply Rugged...
The Mountain Gun Series has to be the best big bore revolver Smith ever made...Bob

Big fan of the Mountain Gun here. I have two holsters I like for mine. An old US made Bianchi 111 Cyclone, and a Simply Rugged Sourdough.

For comfort with my particular body shape, my El Paso Saddelry Snap Off Elite is the absolute most comfortable holster I have.
The Simply Rugged Sourdough offers great retention & protection, a great value.
I got a DeSantis Speed Scabbard in trade or otherwise wouldn't have looked at one. Pleasantly surprised, secure & comfortable.
I use either a Bianchi or Galco dual position thumb snap in the crossdraw mode when in a vehicle a lot or while riding an ATV.
Four choices probably didn't help much. But I've had a Mt. Gun since they came out & stuff does pile up. I'm wanting to try a Kenai chest holster as well.

Am also considering a kydex middle chest type holster. Friend to make me one. Matching schedules has been the issue. I've saved the belts, suspenders and fast-ex type buckles from my last few hasmat acid suits.

I've not found anything yet that can conceal a large revolver better than the Simply Rugged Sourdough with the "inside out straps" My 5 1/2" Redhawk and 5" 627 V-Comp the disappear under a t-shirt when carried iwb, and I'm just an average sized guy. They are all day comfortable.

I would see what Doc Barranti has ready to ship, unless I wasn't in a hurry. Then I'd order whatever I wanted. If I was in a hurry and Doc didn't have anything available, I'd order from Simply Rugged. Rob has a very quick turnaround, even on his floral carved stuff generally.

I am very happy with Simply Rugged. Even an N frame carries well IWB with the inside out straps!

I actully spent to much for a horsehide Kramer holster for a S&W Mod. 24 4in. 17 years ago and then I went on a 4in. tapered bbl. N-Frame quest. I am up to seven guns that I can carry in my expensive holster......one at a time of course. Or maybe I needed a reason to buy more N-frames.....
