I don't think you can get the cylinders case colored ( but I didn't ask )... you can get the barrels black nitride... there are somethings the site's program can't do, that they can do in the custom shop... I called them yesterday, to ask a few specifics ( the site doesn't show hex barrels in black, & only 2 lengths, you can get the hex in several custom lengths, & they can be black nitrided, as well as the fluted cylinders ) those were specific questions I asked yesterday...

I saw where you can choose black nitrode for the cylinder. Just didn’t see the barrel.
That is really nice feature. I’ve always thought the BFRs would be nice blued. Guess that’s the next best thing.

The program is limited... but if you have a long frame set up, and click barrel options, there is a 7.5" round Black Nitride option to view...

looks awesome... My buddy has a silver 460... I'm thinking a hex barrel & fluted cylinder all black nitride in 375 Winchester with white grips to break it up... also thinking the fiber optic front sight, & I'd switch out the green rod for an orange one...
has anyone ever done or see the penta flat side cylinder??? would shave off some serious rotational mass on a long cylinder... would be curious how the cylinder looks from a front angle shot, & if it would look goofy with a hex barrel???

Almost makes me wish mine was a 7.5” barrel. .... almost Glad to see 460 being a not-unpopular choice. For a long time I never read of anyone owning one but me. The bullets I like shooting don’t fit in an x-frame

After having my little 500L done all black nitride, and knowing it won’t rust, or glare I’m really glad I went that way, it definitely makes for a very serious looking gun.

Here's another view of it... How's the recoil compared to an X-Frame?

I am reminded of a lyric from the Johnny Cash song “One Piece at a Time”: I always wanted me one that was looong and black. Whitworth, have you ever tried treating the 460 as a baby 45/70? I have found that the 16 twist barrel shoots 430 grain cast WFN really, really well when using IMR4198, (1400 fps), it’s like a wee 45/70. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcvS6GrGwHI&app=desktopOh that time of flight...

I'm sure it does! But I have one in .45/70 as well. I haven't because it's really good as a .460! It'll shoot some factory 300 grain loads over 2,000 fps and it absolutely hammers game!

Wow I really love that all black nitride look! I'm glad Magnum Research has something like this to look at different options. Pretty cool!
Max or anyone else that has shot one of these beasts in 460, how snappy is the recoil? Lots of sideways torque or not?
