The muzzle end of the barrel is a bit thicker than the forcing cone end. Perhaps there is a shoulder on the barrel which holds the shroud and the barrel is tightened with a tool that engages the rifling. Similar to a new S&W K frame.

I won a raffle in Texas, only thing ever won in my life. Anyway, the prize was a pair of fixed barrel and fixed sight Dan Wessons, with 6 inch barrels.
Ugly as sin, but they would shoot.

Groo here DW did make some fixed barrel revolvers. I "think" I read they were for some PD or maybe an out of the country contract...

I can understand them doing the fixed barrel for police or a government contract but there seems to be very few actually out there. Maybe they produced some to show off and none were ever bought.
I cannot find any other picture of this same gun anywhere.

Okiehooser, thanks for the thread. Not a Dan man but enjoyed adding to the knowledge base through that thread. All we ever saw of DWs in this part of the world were the Pistol Pacs and they didn't sell well.
Did know a guy who took a Bull Elk with one, a Model 15 357 with an 8 inch barrel. Elk walked into his backyard one morning during hunting season and the guy had his pistol by the door, stepped out and shot the bull just below the ear on the left side of his head at 35 ft and the elk expired on the spot.
I got the call as a Deputy Sheriff as the neighbors to the guy who shot the bull elk were complaining because they thought the animal wasn't taken in a "fair chase" manner. Mr. Sanderson who shot the elk was just trying to figure out how to get the elk out of his backyard and onto the meat locker company, for cutting and wrapping.
The nearest neighbor lived a 1/4 of a mile away and watched the elk wander into that fateful backyard.
