I found this at a gun show yesterday and honestly I don't even know for sure what model number it is. I think it would be called a 714 but I don't know if the barrel configuration changes things. It's a fixed barrel, fixed sight stainless snub nose 357 from the Palmer Mass. era. The barrel is a hair over 2.5 inches. I tried searching around on the Dan Wesson forums but I didn't find much.

That looks like a serious "snubgun" match gun, used to be a sidematch in PPC matches. Looks like a great carry piece.

I believe those came out after the model 11s there were the redesigned or improved model I think it’s easier to change the barrels in them than he 11s Supposedly they didn’t sell well the Palmer guns had a bad rep if you got a good one it was great if ya got a bad one well ya know....the quality was not consistent like the Mindon Mass guns were. Finding other barrel lengths might be a need in a hay stack type job. Good looking gun though.

In the early 1990's, Dan Wesson also made some adjustable sight 3-inch Model 15's with fixed barrels. I've only seen a couple. A few years back, I ordered a 3" barrel from EWK Arms. It has the nut for quick change (which is nice; my other barrels are 4" and 6"). Nice find and thanks for the post. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

I handled fixed sight DWA revolvers, way back, and don’t remember whether the barrels were fixed or interchangeable. The boys at DWA told me that you cannot issue the interchangeable barrel to cops. To reach that market, a fixed barrel is a must. Since I had no interest in the fixed-sight, fixed-barrel arrangement, I paid no attention. Now, I am curious as to how the fixed barrel is attached, since your photos show a separate barrel and shroud. From a production standpoint, it makes sense to continue to barrel-with-shroud concept: * DWA round stock barrel process. * DWA shroud process. * Thread timing not required to fit barrel. Does the picture with the straight on muzzle shot look like the barrel is off-center from the shroud?

Does the picture with the straight on muzzle shot look like the barrel is off-center from the shroud? ***** Shadow @ 6 o’clock makes it hard, if not impossible, to tell. If I had to guess, I’d say the barrel is straight. However, no effort was wasted on finishing the muzzle of the shroud. David Bradshaw

I have looked at the gun over and over and I cannot figure out how the barrel/shroud tensions to the frame

I have looked at the gun over and over and I cannot figure out how the barrel/shroud tensions to the frame ***** Which leads me to wonder whether: * barrel is screwed to the frame----with glue. * shroud is pressed over barrel----for a tight friction fit, possibly with glue. Other possibilities come to mind, more complex, more expensive. David Bradshaw

I like the fixed-barrel Dans. There is one currently on GunBroker. www.gunbroker.com/item/801134017The fixed 5" gun shown below is a favorite. I'm leaving a little empty spot on the vault door for which the GB listing to hang.
