Very nice! I really like the integral sight base on that shooting master. It looks nearly identical to the one I paid Hamilton $1000 to put on a FA.

Why so much? Integral front sight base is a lot of work I guess. Why did I have it done? Like the look. To be fair the cost included the rest of the barrel.

If Colt had made single actions half as interesting over the lat 90 years as USFA did in their short time in business, well, they'd still be fledgling from mismanagement but still at that point I'd at least consider buying a Colt over a custom Ruger.

Robb, how's that rear sight work? What are the screws for? How is the brass insert retained?

I BOUGHT THREE FA DOVETAIL FRONT SIGHTS AND HAD MY LOCAL SIXGUNSMITH INSTALL THEM FOR FOR LITTLE $$$. ADJUSTABLE FOR WINDAGE, FILED IN FOR ELEVATION,, AND THEY LOOK GOOD.

Not sure yet Todd. I will examine it closer when I get back home next week.

It is interesting how this gun has passed through several hands, according to Robb. I think it has found a permanent home...until my kids have to decide what to do with all of Dad's STUFF!

Those are a nice pair...
I had David Clements turn my Shooting Master into a .41 Special with a 5.5" barrel and Flat Top Target style front sight to match the 5.5" FTT .22 I have. Still have the original barrel and .357 cylinder so it can be converted back to original...
As to the rear sight on the SM...I prefer the one of the FTT. The SM sight was taken from the early Colt ACE 1911 .22. There are no click stops to the elevation and when shooting it could change POI on you over a period of time. I was lucky in that David was thoughtful enough to include two different front sight blades for a range of bullet weights. With the shorter one in and the rear sight bottomed out the 250s are sighted in perfectly at 50 yards so I don't have to worry about the rear sight screw...
