So I saw this picture on one of my game cameras thursday. It's right below one of my deer stands. I have seen him only at night on camera a few times before now. He was there on Tuesday the 4th,,, during a pretty windy day. I was not in that stand that day. Well,,, we knew we were going to have a good snow storm move in on Saturday,,, and I knew that such a cold front coming in would possibly make the deer feed a bit heavier before the storm. I was right. He came in about 10:30 am,,, Saturday morning,,, and he is deer number 106 with my Contender. And he was hit in the neck, just under his chin, and the bullet exited on the side on the ground. Not one bit of meat ruined.

Ignore the date & time in the picture of him eating. I THOUGHT the camera was properly set.

That Contender is an old, longtime favorite. It's a 7x30 Waters. An easy shot for me,, as it was only about 50 yds. It's about all I hunt with during our firearms season.

Here's another picture of this buck. He had a slightly unusual feature. He had a "nubby" tail. When I skinned him, it didn't seem to be a recent injury,, and in this picture,, it appears to be normal,,,, just shorter. The bone structure was only about 2" long.

That tail is oddly short. What are those munchies of choice ? Camp next to ours has a plot of some kinda beets and looks similar.
