I wrote it before but... Bought a Dillon Square Deal when they first came out in the mid 80s. A long time 550 user I was never comfortable with the auto indexing feature and the ease of short stroking the SD. Didn't keep it long. Flash forward 30 years end up with a SDB in a trade and either some brain cells died or I'm just more patient. I can actually load with the SDB, not stress, and make good ammo.

If you like the square deal, I can only imagine how you’d like the 650. ESP with a case feeder. Magical machine I tell ya. Wizardry meets science

650? I own and use a 1050.. Same here but changing anything in the 1050 is a nightmare. The 650 can be stripped and switched completely in the time it takes just to remove the primer assembly from the 1050. I’ve decided my 1050 will spend its life setup for 9mm unless something drastic happens.

I've picked up used SDBs as caliber dedicated machines- one in 44 mag/special, the other 45 Colt/ACP. That frees up my other presses to swap out lower volume calibers.
Buying used, local machines, they are a very good value.

Ya. used SDB's are a huge bargain. I am at 9 currently and looking for number 10. I can load several hundred handgun rounds in an hour in whatever caliber I decide. Probably the best little machines I can imagine. I hope to get a 650 at some point for .223 but loading that on the 550 isn't really that hard either so I just haven't got one yet.

I have two. The first one I bought in 1983-84, it has been rebuilt by Dillon three times. I bought a second one a couple of years ago. Now I have a large and small primer set up.
I had a 450 and wish I had never sold it. Jeff

I had on SD back when they first came out, lasted about a month, I got tiered of trying to load as fast as I could with the 550. For me the problem with the SD is the size, I just have two big of hands and today to much arthritis use it comfortably, maybe I'm just to clumsy with the smaller openings, but I just can't comfortably operate the SD machine.
I had a 650 setup for .45 acp for a while and liked it, but when I quit shooting the 1911 so much I decided to sell it in favor of the speed and ease of changing calibers on the 550. I have had a couple buddies that had the square deal and switched to go with the 550 just for the ease of changing calibers, and the comfort it offers with more working room. The other thing is it just isn't as effortless to operate with some the bigger calibers that it is capable of loading, not to mention can't be used for many other calibers.
