I know how much the new Remington built Marlins are disliked, and for good reason. A number of earlier NY built Marlins I handled ranged from bad to atrocious! If this July 2018 built 1894CS is any indication of what they are producing, I'd say that's very good news. Gave this one a real good going over before it came home with me. Metal to wood fit is very good. Bluing is all around very good. Reasonably good looking piece of Walnut . Action is smooth right out of the box. Can operate the lever with my pinky. Feeds very well. Drops fired cases into a nice neat little pile. Crisp creep free trigger. Decent enough trigger pull weight for a factory gun not overly heavy. Very pleased with the way it's shooting jacketed and lead. Machine cut checkering looks good. Not as nice as the older ones, but pretty good none the less. My only complaint would be that the loading gate was extremely stiff out of the box. It's fine now, but it took a bunch of loading dummy rounds into it to break it in. Overall I'm Very pleased with this one. Hoping this one isn't just a fluke and they're all this good. Added a Ranger Point Precision peep sight and contoured dove tail filler. Here's a pic.

Nice! I'm waiting for one of the new 1894 CSTs to come around this way and I'll be buying one for sure. I want to try suppressed 38 specials

I'm glad to hear this and truly hope the issues are worked out and we can get back to the Marlin quality of old. I'm hopeful that the announced 444 becomes available soon and it too will be a good one. I love my triple 4 and would like a quality version with a 1:20 twist barrel. Thanks for sharing your new 357 savit260. Maybe a near perfect "ranch rifle". Dan

Also worth noting there is no Warning billboard on the side of the barrel. Just the address model and caliber roll stampings.

I have one that my dad bought in the 90's. Great gun.

Good to hear that the quality is back since Marlin is our only traditional, US made lever gun now that our beloved Winchesters are made in Japan 😠(Henry isn't a historical design).

I have a Remlin Stainless 30-30 and the fit and finish is good and the action is smooth. Would I prefer a JM stamped gun? Sure. But I have no complaints with the quality of the one I have.

I did not know they were re-releasing a 444. Sign me up!
