I scrolled back up and saw how short the barrel is and guess staying sub-sonic will not be a problem ! I'd still avoid the slow burners. I've had to fire 44mags and such after dark without time to put on eyes n ears. Even the hottest load I was contemplating is subsonic. I loaded samples that should come out of this gun in the neighborhood of 825fps (standard pressure) and 900fps (+P.) We'll see how they work out.

The mold, which is the subject of the Brian Pierce article, is my primary .45 Colt bullet. I have 4 molds(two MP 4 cavity, one MP 2 cavity HP and one RCBS 2 cavity(the original mold in this design). The article by Pierce has been my go to for loads. Unlike most here, I don't hunt. I load for my own recreation and have mostly used loads from the 14K psi and 20K psi tables. These have been shot in Ruger Blackhawks, custom 5 shots and even an FA83 with a .45 Colt cylinder. It is only occasionally when I feel the need to punish myself that I load heavier bullets and more powder. Then with proven loads from reliable sources. For me these are a source of diminishing returns. I'm not very accurate with the heavier loads after a few cylinders full. Age doesn't help.

IF YOU HAVE ANY TRAIL BOSS, TRY 8.5 GRAINS. I LIKE TO USE MAGNUM PRIMERS BECAUSE THE POWDER IS SO BULKY.
