I don't cast and I'm looking for a good hunting bullet for my Horvath .38-40 Blackhawk. Any leads on a good bullet for sale?

I don't know who makes a good hunting bullet but when I'm home I can check my supply of 401 Powermag bullets, (sized .403). I don't know how many I have cast up but I have some 200 grain SWC and some 240 grain WLN (LBT mold). I'd be happy to send some your way but I don't get home until October 18.

Thanks for the offer. I’m not in a hurry. I found some cannulered jacketed bullets to get me shooting. Get in touch when you get off the slope.

With the small driving band and fairly straight walled nose, it looks like a Boser bullet. I had a mold made years ago to duplicate the Boser bullet and it didn't shoot well at all for me. Might have been my gun, my alloy, the added speed, but it didn't work for me/my Buckeye. ETA: I just looked up the mold number, it IS a Boser bullet. ETA: #2 www.artfulbullet.com/index.php?threads/gordon-boser-wildcatter.1720/Be sure to read that last line.

Not to hijack the thread eskimo, but I have a OMBH conversion to 38 WCF supposedly by Horvath as well. Not to doubt the origin of mine as purchased from a forum member, but is there anything on the gun to indicate that Andy did the work?

Andy had a unique way he marked caliber on customs for years. Post a pick of the caliber remark or send it to me and I’ll post it. I’ll PM you

I had a mold made years ago to duplicate the Boser bullet... FWIW... a Boser on the left.

"I don't cast and I'm looking for a good hunting bullet" Looks to me like a pretty good excuse to start casting.

Too much travel in my life right now to cast, maybe someday. I'm away from home about 340 days a year. I travel with guns and a pretty extensive reloading set up.

Mountain Molds made it years ago. I struggled with the mold for a while, one side just would not drop bullets. MM figured it was cut wrong and offered to replace it. By then I was frustrated with how it cast and how it shot, so he made me one a little more Keith-ish, the one on the right. I gave the first one away to someone on a forum(?)
