I finally decided I needed a proper wood and blue steel bolt action .22. Found a used CZ 452 Trainer model and I finally made it to the range. Surrounded by ARs with HUGE comps and huge concussions. Made me concentrate hard. Since this will be a hunting rifle I took only my box of hunting ammo. It was a bit breezy, but overall accuracy with 10-12 loads was in the 3/4" to 1" range. I found 2 loads that were under 1/2". Wolf Match Extra and SGB so I have 2 hunting rounds. I may take my benchrest box out next time to see what it can really do. Use details: I had mounted a scope I thought had parallax set at 50yds. It was not. So target was blurry and parallax was a bit of an issue. I have already swapped out the scope to an AO type. The 5.5oz trigger took some getting used to. I had several discharges before I wanted to just due to the light weight, but they were on paper. I did not adjust it prior to going, but will before I go back. This is a hunting gun, not a benchrest gun. The firing pin not setting was much reduced from early testing. Maybe once every 10-15 shots? I had one discharge on closing the bolt. Surprised me but it was safely pointed so hopefully adjusting the trigger solves that. Gentle bolt work seemed to work best. I know one thing for sure - I am getting some 10 round mags! Besides the constant reloading of my single mag I noted the last round very often (every 3rd mag full on average) would not chamber, but was too high - the nose hit above the chamber. Easy to fix each time but a pain to mess with. Overall I am very pleased. Sub 1/2" groups with hunting ammo and a poor scope choice means I will do better in the future. One thing is certain...this CZ outshoots my Ruger Precision Rimfire!

In my CZ .22 I have acquired a single shot magazine. Sounds backward but I find I can reload one at a time with less stress than stopping to reload the 5 and 10 round magazines every three minutes. Great guns by the way.

Very nice, I really like mine!
My 452 doesn't see a lot of range time (I need to change that) but it has survived several turnovers of my rimfire accumulation because I like it that much. One of these days I'll get the trigger upgrade kit that's been talked about over on Rimfire Central. For some reason the hard to find 28" model appeals to me as well.
38WCF, where did you get the single shot mag? That sounds useful.

I should mention that I have the CZ 455 not the 452. Not sure if the magazines are interchangeable. ??

Brother Bill has a cz scout with the single shot adapter and a 5 round mag it doesn't bother him, even killed a coyote with it! I have a Remington 511 22longrifle with a 25'' barrel and a 5 round mag, i need to take it out after prairie dogs. mag capacity doesn't bother me.

I have no less than 5 of the 452's. Three trainers in .22 LR one for each of the Menfolk in the family, one for me in .17 HMR which is my primary prairie dog rifle and one of the scouts which we all still love to shoot cuz its just so cute!
Oh yeah, I forgot, I recently picked up a 452 Style, nickel plated. Super fun.
I'd love to find a 22 mag version.

I have the original BRNO Model 1, the grand daddy of the current line. I use it for offhand practice at the pistol range. Great gun.

I swapped a browning BPS that had thousands of shells threw it for a 452 ultra lux with the 28 inch barrel brand new in the box about 8 months ago. Super easy to hit things with, and practically suppressed.
We were shooting flicker tails with my 28” and my buddy’s suppressed 22 mag. And there was no real noise difference. They are great guns. Nice acquisition!
