Saw one yesterday in like new condition for under $800. Further research shows it has a 1-20" twist which I like. Just wondering of anyone has had the opportunity to fire one what their impressions were.
Thx.

Shoots sub 2" with Missouri Coated 300 grain bullets. They hit like a hammer.
Gun is well built and mine has beautiful wood. Put a Nixon 2-7x Shotgun Scope on mine.
I would not leave any good #1 there at $800.

Thanks. They had a 3 screw 357 (actually 2) also but the #1 really intrigued me. The 2-7 Nikon sounds perfect. Hmm. This one too had some beautiful light walnut on it. Need to see if it is still available Monday.

I originally got mine to build a great 444 Marlin out of.
Now, I'm not so sure. Its pretty danged good just like it is. Plus, I have some published 50,000 psi load data that provides great performance.

Rechambering sounds like fun, I can see the attraction. Me, I think I'll stick with the 44 Mag.
My #3 in .375 Win is close enough.

I would get one strictly for a .445 supermag rechamber.

I purchased one when they were released. I would jump on a good one priced under $800, especially if it had decent wood. I have been enjoying mine with open sights, though I did purchase a Leupold 1-4 to mount on it. The trigger could be a bit lighter but otherwise it’s a great shooter. For disclosure, this is my first and only #1 and I enjoy it immensely. Makes for a relaxing day at the range.

Can't comment on the #1 in 44 Mag from personal experience... As for suitable optics, I ran across a Weaver 1x3 at a LGS for $150. Dropped it on my Deerfield carbine and have been impressed, especially at that price. Might work for well on the #1 too.

David Clements used to make a trigger for the #1. I still have yet to put mine in.

Love mine. Huge No. 1 fan to begin with. Combined with the magnificent .44 magnum it is a winner. I added a Skinner rear peep sight, slightly taller front sight and now I just need to take it hunting. A lot of fun to shoot.
