Hi guys,
I ordered some 535 grains Semi-wadcutters w/gas checks. Try though i might I have not found any load data for this bullet weight. I'm trying to get about 1,350 fps to mirror the 525 grain .500 Maximum loads. Any suggestions on where to start?

Who's your bullet vendor if you don't mind my asking?

Try Hodgdon's website. They have data for the 500 grain Hornady. I would try the Accurate Powder site as well. These sources are both listed on Wolf's Load Data. Sorry to say I'm no a subscriber.

They are Matt's bullets.

If I couldn't find any data, I'd start extrapolating from 500gr data. Make sure case capacity(after bullet) is similar, and then start with some starting loads and see what you've got. My Lyman manual has more powder options than the Hodgdon site. I'd probably start with a powder like 2400/4227 that doesn't mind when you start extra low(pressure) and carefully work your way up to full magnum.

What's funny is I subscribed to the Wolf Load Data site for this and they have nothing over 500 grains. Dang...

I did find a forum post with some info this exact bullet. Gonna start there by loading 10 rounds to see if they are safe, accurate, and how they perform and adjust from there.

If you're taking data from a forum, it never hurts to do a sanity check with some published data to make sure it's reasonable. (my apologies if you're an experienced reloader, just can't be too careful when playing with guns and ammo!)

Very good point. No worries, before loading I will be running it by my known data. I agree, no such thing as too careful.

Worked just fine, no over pressure indicators and accuracy seemed good. I forgot my chronograph so I didn't get any data on speed. But next time 😀

I found some chrono data from a few years ago using that bullet. 31 gr. W296 gave me an average of 1,457 fps in a 10" BFR. You might try Mr. Bradshaw's practice of deep seating and crimp over the front driving band to reduce case capacity a bit and keep the powder happy with a lower charge.

Wow ! Lots of bullet and velo. Admit it scares me. I'd start...with a glove and wrist brace ! Luck.

I stumbled on an old pic. 44 Mag brass for an idea of the size of the bullet.

Not going to lust the loads have tried or actually use for my 545grain NEI mold but will say this if you pick powders that are used in the ancient .50-70 Govt and start there working up cautiously you will find wonderous trewasure troves of loads for those 535grain pills. Pay close attention to your OAL also
