Sad news indeed, prayers for his friends and family. I don't think he ever got the recognition he deserved for his gunsmithing. He received some as he was named Outstanding American Handgunner in 1988 and was awarded the OAHAF Bronze.

I'm glad to have a little piece of his legacy, in the form of a 454 Casull Ruger Alaskan

A sad day for all of us who appreciate the contribution he created for big bote revolvers. May he rest in peace.

I will always be grateful to a good friend of Dick`s for introducing him to me.... The first time I meet him in person was after a hunt out west and I stopped at Dick`s Freedom, Wyoming home and met his lovely wife Geri and after some coffee he opened his safe and showed me some incredible prototype handguns he made and then showed me his extensive machine shop where he built these guns. A couple years later we went to dinner where he carried his concealed S&W M-19 with a 2 1/2" barrel... He was still deadly....A good man who designed and built amazing guns and cartridges......

It will be our task to keep his memory alive as long as there are sixgunners to remember...

The 454 Casull is quite a legacy in and of itself. What an amazing cartridge!

This is very sad news. The 454 cartridge is what turned me into a dedicated revolver shooter. I can't imagine the number of shooters that have been inspired by his legacy.

He was one to walk where many fear to thread. May he rest in peace.
