I'm probably in the minority on this, but I don't care for the round butt grip treatment on most of the new Redhawks. To my eyes it looks like someone grafted a J Frame grip an L or N Frame. It looks unbalanced to me.
I understand the "why" behind it (at least I think I do) but I don't carry one so the old square butt doesn't bother me.

I'm one of the folks that never quite warmed up to the SRH. Odd, because I'm definitely a pretty is as pretty does kinda guy and the SRH's deliver. With that, and medium sized hands, this new variation looks good to me. With a considerably more svelte L framed M69 already filling that niche though, I'd want to see 480 sized holes drilled in the usual places om this RH.

looks to me like a GP-100 with an SP-100 grip frame grafted on somehow

I have the 2 3/4" Kodiak version with that grip shape, and carried in an IWB (or OWB for that matter) the thing flat out disappears under a T shirt. You would not believe how concealable a Redhawk can be. That said, mine wears a Pachmayer Gripper Decelerator because the factory wood on Redhawks pounds a nerve in my thumb. Jack Huntington promises me he can make some wood grips for it that will work for me, but the Pachmayer is so comfortable I am leery to risk spending the money. The Pachmayer also conceals really well too. The IWB holster I had molded for my Kodiak:

Yetiman.... you are wise to conserve your anatomy. I found the 7-1/2” barrel of the original wood grip Redhawk easy to shoot with .44 Mags. There were no aftermarket stocks for a Redhawk. In 1982 Ruger sent me one of the new 5-1/2” Redhawks, and it played RECOIL to a different tune. Remember charging the cylinder with mags for the first time: Federal 44B 180 JHP... BANG! What a whollop to the base of my thumb! Velocity on Ken Oehler’s Model 33 averaged 1,610 fps, exactly what Federal printed on the box. While faster from the 7-1/2” Redhawk, recoil is a pussycat.
The factory Redhawk grip----which Bill Ruger copied from the M-29, albeit with higher hump on backstrap----feels fine in my hand... Until I fire it with 5-1/2-inch barrel. I do not care for the wide-spaced finger grooves, nor narrowness of the Pachmayr Gripper (Redhawk Gripper only). I must nevertheless commend you for using a grip which protects your hand and future shooting. And you are correct that the Gripper lays under shirt far better than the Pachmayr Presentation for the Redhawk. As said before, I think the Redhawk grips were configured to the hand of Carl Cupp, very much a force at Pachjmayr at that time. Carl was a big boy. Cups was present for the get-together between Pachmayr owner Bruce Baker and Freedom Arms owner Wayne Baker (no relation) during the move to provide a more absorbent grip, one less likely to slide, on the Dick Casull Model 83.
The Ruger Redhawk gleans honest velocity from big rounds. This means more recoil. The RECOIL of POWER makes a revolver grip personal. David Bradshaw

I like a lot of things about the M69 to be sure. Had my Redhawk been an outright purchase, I would have gotten a 4" version, or quite possibly a 4" M69. I was offered the Kodiak in trade for a Glock 20 that I never really liked, and after an action job by Jack Huntington and some Bowen sights, I would be hard pressed to ever let it go. The manager of a LGS makes the holsters, and after a two week wait for my turn on his list I dropped the gun off at 4 in the afternoon and had it and the holster back at 10am the next day. He said the size of the cylinder was the biggest challenge he has come across, as it taxed the limits of his equipment and he used the thickest kydex he had for it. Cost was $70. I asked for it to have a large enough shield to cover the rear sight, and it came out great.

I like it ! The 4" would be fairly easy for me to conceal . with 300 + gr cast at 1100 fps. It should still be not bad shooting. Yeti, great looking set up. The rubber grip that comes on the 4.2" Redhawk 44 and 45 is Too big for my hands. The grip on yours looks like it would be very comfortable. Super looking iwb holster too.

Yup I could use an IWB like that for my Model 64 2".

The full lug 4.2" Redhawk appeals to me as I have always wanted Smith to build their 629 Classic in a 4" as I am short 5"8" and the 4" rides easier while driving or sitting. I also like the balance of a 4" better. Need to scrape up some bucks and find one under the glass somewhere.

I like it very much myself as it actually fits my hand... a lot better than any other thing they have done.

I've tried a ton of Redhawk grips including the Gripper but that one was a little big for me. I finally found a set of Uncle MIkes/Butler Creek grips and they are perfect. No more thumb bash when shooting heavy 454 loads and they fit my hand. I've never fondled one of the new roundbutts. hmmm.... Now I sound like a politician... I like the looks of that new Redhawk. All it needs is bigger holes!
