Have any of the AR guys here taken the .25-45 Sharps for a spin? What were your thoughts and impressions?
Thanks!

Mainly just looking for general impressions from an end user. I've been searching for and looking at single shot Sharps rifles and the .25-45 always shows up if just search "Sharps" without specifying a caliber or model. I finally got curious enough to start reading up on the caliber.
I can find magazine reviews online that speak glowingly about it but the blog writers dismiss it as over-hyped and under-performing. Apparently SRC claimed it was a new 250-3000 but there's only 1 load that hits 3K fps and confusion if they did it with a 20" or 24" barrel.
What I haven't really been able to find are reports and reviews from shooters that actually bought or built one and used it in the field.

It “may”perform like the original in a 24” barrel on a good day. My experience is from an 18” barrel, and it does not compare to the 250 Sav.,.......however, it is a great little round and compares favorably to the 25-35 Win. as far as velocity. On game I use mine with 100gr prvi partisan SP, and Hornady 117gr RN, the Prvi ammo is what gets used for general use on coyotes, deer, pigs etc. I get good penetration on broadside and slightly quartering shots on deer and pigs in the 100-150# range out to 200yards. I use the 117gr RN for night time short range work on pigs of any size. Velocity runs very even with my 6.5Grendel in comparable barrel lengths and brass isn’t as costly or hard to find. I use GI metal mags to get as much length from the cartridge as possible, magpul or other plastic mags tend to take a bit of useable length, with the metal mags I can seat Bullets to the crimp groove. I’ve also shot Sierra 90gr bthp and gotten good accuracy but have not run them into flesh yet. Out at 200yards all of the loads land into a single 3-4 inch group so I’m able to swap loads without worrying about impact shifts between the 90, 100, and 117gr loads.
I would not hesitate to use it for deer sized game out to 250yards.

90gr - 2600fps 100gr - 2500fps 117gr - 2300fps
From my 18” barrel, exit holes with 100gr are 1/2” so very nice expansion and good penetration.

Thanks, that's good first hand information.
I'm a fan of quarter bores and I think it would fit neatly between my 5.56 and 6.8 rifles. Other than the cool-to-me factor, I'm just not sure I can make a case to myself to take the plunge since all I hunt is paper and steel.

I averaged 2977fps with SRC factory 87gr ammo from my 20" AR.
