I remember these generating a lot of excitement when they were announced but I don't see much discussion of them anymore. Are those of you who bought one still happy with it or has it been replaced with something else that does the job better?

I'm watching this as that sixgun has my interest peaked also.

Thank you Mr Taffin. Just for clarification, how mediocre? My primary use for ACP would be economical plate ringing at the range (25 yds or less) and general fun. If I use it for Hunter Pistol I'd use .45 Colt (unless the ACP has acceptable accuracy out to 100 yds).

A note on 45 ACP use. Bullet choice makes or breaks accuracy here. Soft (under 9 BHN) bullets are needed here. I use the 455 Webley hollow base myself with as good of results as the Colt cartridge in it. MP molds has a Keith hollow base design (because I gave it to him) that goes 230 gr. with two hollow base pins at different depths........ now, getting him to run it. Any takers? because I would honcho it if enough interest comes.

Thanks for the heads up. Since I don't cast (or even roll my own at the moment), is there a suitable off the shelf load that works well?

I had a regular 45 Colt model cut for moonclips before it was a factory option and it shoots well with ACP loads. As long as the pressure is kept high enough accuracy is decent to 50-75 yards. If you shoot lighter loads it may key hole, the chamber dimensions are different between Colt and ACP. The extra pressure helps a lot.

I too bought a Redhawk in 45 that had been cut for moons before the factory offered one. I still enjoy mine. I haven't tried it for anything other than range play,,, so if your desires are fun at the range at plates & paper,,, you should enjoy it!

I really enjoy my Bisley Convertible. But I'm thinking about a large 4" barreled d.a. sixgun for certain things in the summer. I may have to settle on just shortening my SRH 480 to 5 " and call it good for a year. There are situations where double action could come in handy.

I don't have any pressure data on the loads I've run, but they should have been less than +P. One thing I noticed is that heavier bullets, even at mid range loadings, performed best. I tried light 150 gr and 200 gr bullets and those needed upwards of book max for standard pressure. If you want the best chance for success, I'd load a 230 or 255 gr bullet.

Thanks! To me, .45 ACP begins at 230g and only goes up, never down so lighter weights won't be an issue.
