Obviously reloads with Trailboss. Would like to see someone give the 41 Special some legitimacy and make it a dedicated, standardized cartridge. Wouldn't mind having a Bulldog or Colt Cobra in a three inch barrel. Something along the line of a CA Bulldog 3 inch classic or even a Ruger SP101 in a 5 shot 41 Spl 3" those platforms would work for me.

From my experience the Charter is built to handle cowboy load levels very well. I can't see one holding up well with most factory 357mag and for sure 41mag.I keep everything as close to 850pfs as I can. Folks like Buffalo Bore does not want even their standard spec ammo shot in the Charters

I picked one of these up. cylinder is 1.6" in diameter. recoil is about like the 44 special. I was shooting 7.5 gr of unique with a 235 gr powder coated wadcutter(about 1" groups at 8 yds). I also loaded some double ball loads using the .7 cc dipper. at 8 yds, the roundballs stayed pretty close together. I only fired three of these loads and was able to keep 6 rbs in a 7" circle

I have the 41mag but have only shot it with some 41spl rounds. I really like it but haven't tried any mag rounds.

man I can't decide if I should keep my lcr38 or trade towards the 45colt.. would love a DA 45colt carry option, and that charter looks sweet.

Not me, because that would just be wrong.... I said "Forty Five Long Colt" out loud ONCE I can remember, in the early 70's, and all my children were born naked and toothless. I'd be remiss in my duties if I didn't warn the rest of you.

4.6 gr of bullseye and a NOE 454-251 wadcutter ran really well also, and was more pleasant to shoot than the 7.5 grains of unique I shot 7 gr of unique with a 235 gr powder coated wadcutter and got a 2.75" 5 shot group at 15 yds. I also had good results with a Lee wadcutter(cant remember mold #). I plan to try some Lyman 452423 and 454424 bullets as well, cast of 1:20 tin/lead

Had a 44 spcl years ago, it always worried me about them thin chamber walls, but never had an issue and never really worried about hot loads as it was the only 44 I had. Now 45 Colt is another story, and I am sure even though it is rated for the 41 mag, some 45 Colts I have on the shelves could be detrimental to it's physical well being.
For keeping things obvious I have a couple hundred Nickle R-P cases just for this caveat. I had the Bond that loved the 270 MH HP, with 6.0 grains of red dot, and shot amazingly well! This was the only cases that I used or allowed in that gun. I think this new Charter Arms would be an excellent candidate for these cases and that load,, although that 3" derringer generated better exterior ballistics and performance than my 4 5/8" Blackhawk did with the same load! But still would be superior SD protection over the 38 spcl and in my book a snubby 357.

PecosPete, I understand your point to efficiency and hull size. I'd still want the big ole 45 Colt case though, I'd be loading shotshells, rice loads and like the mentioned above 2 RB load. I'd make use of, enjoy that capacious volume.

Groo here My biggest problem with a 41mag is the lack of weight of the gun. That would be like shooting a S&W 329 with full up loads...
