Well we have a small snag. Was thinking of useing the Bowen Perfect Bisley 45Colt but with JRH amazing fast service. I now have back in action the BFR 475L with JRH Grip mod. I know both will do the job and both need to be bloodied. Both shoot great way cast bullets. Now to makeup my mind!

Not much luck is needed as the hunt is behind fence just shy of a mile square but still fenced! It will be fun! You don't have to convince yourself that you're tracking Cape buffalo to have a good time and enjoy the meat.

Got to the range today shot the BFR 475l with it’s new grip and frame mods. Was easier to shoot and felt less recoil. Shot the 45Colt also. Loads where 11 gr of HS6 with a 275grWFN In the Colt. I the 475 I used 14gr of HS6 and a 385gr WFN. The BFR was easier to shoot and easier on the hand! Thinking that it will get to be my date for the bovine bash!

Well the luck held and the fun was had! After a 15 minute stalk we had a 35-40 minute stand off. My intended target milling in a herd of 20! The a old bull was at 25yds and giving me the stink eye. As thing where getting tense I stepped right to be behind a log pile and the herd started left at 25-30yds. As they move slowly I move with them and after they about 10 yds my target stop turn broad side and stop with a calf standing right beside her. The calf bolted and I had a clear shot at 27yds. The first one hit about mid way up and just behind the shoulder. Hit a rib coming and going but stop just under the hide on the far side. She just hump up and flinched and turned toward me a little . The second one I held and hit about 4”lower and end up 8”further back. The bullet stop just under the far side hide. At this time she swung her head and gave me a clear shot at her neck. I held on the neck 3”from the skull at the shot she dropped butt first. The bullet was under the hide after mashing 2 vertebrae. For insurance I walk up behind her and at 2’ shot her in the neck at the base of the skull. My Bowen Perfect Bisley 45Colt is now been blooded. The load a easy shooting NOE 454-265wfn/11gr/HS6. I cast them from 22range scrap. Shot one penetrating about 28”. Shot two about 32”. Will post pictures as soon as I can get someone to do it .

The other part of the story is my wife got herself a pig too! We searched for about 3 hrs before we found 4 pig. I spotted them at about 175 yds and we circled around and used a big brush pile for cover. We stalked to 40yds and got setup as the pigs feed across in front of us! The ranch owner had told her to shoot for just below the ear to save meat! I was looking them over and told her the far left one and to shoot when she had a good shot. As the pig step into a opening I was saying shoot when you (Loud boom)can. Later she said that I never spoke to her. The pig was hit in the base of the ear. Her fist time hunting in about 15 years. She used a 243Win.
