For the last few years I've been using the same Simply Rugged pancake with all of my different revolvers. It was originally made for a Ruger Alaskan but does a pretty decent job with guns ranging from a Kimber K6 (worn IWB) up to a FA83 or large frame Ruger. Since most of the barrels poke out of the bottom I'd eventually like to get something a little nicer from Doc Barranti that is made for the full size Ruger frame and fully protects the barrel. Trouble is I don't know which style to choose. Here's a mug shot of the primary intended occupant, any others would also be large frame Rugers with a 4 5/8" or shorter barrel. As always, pictures are welcome and appreciated!

My suggestions are to go to Doc's "Direct Line". (Less wait time). For strong side carry I would look at the Hank Sloan and for cross draw the Northwest Mountain Companion. I have both of these for SA's and they both work great. Many like the Longhorn Companion as well and I bet it too would serve your needs.
Good Luck in your choice. Great looking sixgun by the way.

Tough to go wrong with Simply Rugged or Barranti holsters. Rob's leather sure makes carrying a big sixgun comfortable and I have a bunch of his pancakes, love them. Been starting to acquire some of Doc's fine leather for a few favored sixguns and couldn't be happier with his work. And I'll echo bigmuddy, fine looking sixgun. B

I've got a couple of Barranti holsters already and one more ordered. My favorite right now is the Longhorn Companion from his direct line. The reason i like it so much is it sits high on the belt. The cylinder is above the belt line, but it is very secure.
I replied to your thread back when you received that revolver. I sent a SS Bisquero off to Clements not to long afterwards. Should hear something any day now. Looks wise, it'll be very similar just in SS with Birdeye Mesquite and a Bowen 6 shot long cylinder. It will ride in the Longhorn Companion.

I've got a full set of pictures in the Blueprint thread if you'd like to see more: singleactions.proboards.com/post/236906/threadMr. Clements did an excellent job on that Ruger. I think I will send him the grip frame from a .44 magnum Bisquero I have to make an identical round butt conversion with the same grip dimensions. It's a very comfortable gun to shoot and feels natural in the hand. As for the holster I am currently thinking a Longhorn Companion with hammered background is going to be the ticket. It looks like a very versatile holster. One of the things I like most about my Simply Rugged is the optional snaps for IWB carry. The option to remove the Longhorn without the belt is nice. Do any of you have preferences on lined versus unlined holsters? I don't think I've ever used or owned one with lining.

You've got great options listed. I've never had a lined holster either. Rob (Simply Rugged) told me he didn't recommend lined holsters because they tend to get grit and such trapped in them that can really scratch up a finish.

I do believe Barranti does his lining with smooth leather inside. I personally prefer lined, but some holsters can get stiff when lined. As he told me, it's your choice.
I have and do use the removable feature of the Longhorn Companion and the hammer strap secures the revolver nicely. If you wear any sort of jacket, you can conceal it easily. I wear an iwb holster a lot, but that is when I carry an auto. I don't carry a revolver in an iwb.

Every handgun deserves its own holster..
gun leather is not the place to cut corners, or go for the "one-size-fits-all" approach...
You probably don't swap the same set of tires and wheels between your car and your pickup -- do you..? --

I have two simply rugged, the pancake and a crossdraw for longer pistols. I do use the pancake a lot. I also have two El Paso Saddlery Tom Threepersons for my 4 3/4 guns. I prefer them when not trying to conceal my SA. I can sit in a vehicle, work on something etc. They work for me. I use the leather loop but have to practice with it.

I decided to go with an unlined Longhorn Companion for this five shooter. Now the wait begins!

A fine choice, wouldn't trade mine for anything.
