Max, Sir, you are just being a tease! I know exactly what I want now. 500LB, bisley grip, white polymer panels, EJRH from the long cylinder, 6.5" barrel (I'm OK with 7 or 7.5 too), and that nice pinned front sight on yours. All I need is to know if it's a custom shop "custom cal" or "standard cal". Oh, and MRI to open so they can take my money! (Nice buck, by the way!)

Max, I gotta ask: I got my .500 JRH BFR, is it worth investing in the .500 Linebaugh? It's a big chunk of change, is all. BFRs are cheaper than customs but not cheap overall. Plus, I'd have to buy new dies, brass, and so on.

I have had multiple examples of both and the JRH offers a distinct advantage as far as bullet selection/availability is concerned. I’ve used both on big game and it’s a wash all else being equal.

Plus, I'd have to buy new dies, brass, and so on. Well, I sold my 500 JRH (Even had the JRH gripframe!), so for me it is totally worth 0.010", but for me it's a completely psychosomatic neurotic thing. Imagine if 50 BMG were a 0.500 caliber. Anyway, my safari rifle is a 0.510, so I like the idea of having a baby safari revolver. (or full size, if you rather!) I sold the JRH because at the end of the day, it was not a 0.510. If I did not have a mental fixation on 510, I'd be shooting the JRH today and would not bother with the linebaugh. As it is, I'm trying to be the first boy on the block with a 500LB BFR. I got through to MRI today, and....... Still in testing . Hopefully soon, no SKU yet either so I can't get put on an order list or anything yet. Will be a custom shop custom cal, and the bisley gripframe will be a $300 adder. so the price expectation will be over $2000 shipped to my FFL. I paid much less for my JRH, and it came with dies and brass. 0.010" is expensive, it seems.

I think that fallow buck suggests you already did! ....Does this mean I can get one with a single-digit serial number?

I think that fallow buck suggests you already did! ....Does this mean I can get one with a single-digit serial number? There is one more round of testing that is going to happen soon, and then they are going to build them. I'm going to have a more detailed conversation with the powers that be this evening, and I will report it here. I will also find out when they are going to start taking orders. Standby.

Money in hand!
BTW, I am thinking of trying a red dot again as well, but am flipping back and forth between reflex style (Vortex Venom) and the tube (ultradot 30). Looks like you are running the UD, but any reason not to consider the reflex style? Looks like it could be mounted lower, lighter, maybe even co-witness if one worked at it enough. the frame stays out of the way for target obstruction.
I almost bought a vortex at Christmas time. Should I be thinking more strongly about the full-size dot option?
(in either case I'll start out life using a scope for load development, then move to other sight styles for fun)

I wanted to use a sight that I knew would hold up to the rigors of the heavy recoil that thing generates and I have the utmost faith in the Ultradot 30's durability. That, and I wanted to run the same type of sight that is on my .500 JRH BFR for familiarity's sake. I ran FTW Ranch's Safari Course with that revolver and I really wanted a sight I could absolutely rely on. The weight isn't bad at all. The rings are aluminum and the sight itself weighs only four ounces.

I have to wonder then, if you felt you could uttery rely on an alternative red dot, you'd have had no issues using an alternative as well?
(understanding all the nuances that go into being able to rely on a sight)

(understanding all the nuances that go into being able to rely on a sight) Sure, but a reflexive-type sight is exposed a lot more than a tube-type and that also gives cause for pause. You can drop a tube and you may not break anything (and I've done that I am sorry to say). I just don't have the same "type" of faith in any reflexive sight.

100% clear.
Looking forward to the conclusions of your conversation with MRI.
(also picked up an ultradot 30 from Midway, they were out of stock, and arrived back in stock today! Now back out of stock. Between that, my scope, and a future front sight TBD, I should have every config covered to suit my mood!

I was told that they should have barrels in hand towards the end of next week. Testing will commence then. I would imagine by February-March they should be available. I will update once I have more information.
