This is definitely an "each to his own" deal. I like octagon but the lines need to flow. I like them especially on a flat top. I don't care for them on a Vaquero. My eye sees a smooth, round, tapered top strap that SLAMS into the angled, hard, "edgy" octagon. Same with front sights. I like the smooth integrated sight base. It just seems to flow. I don't care for look of the drift sight, octagon or round. It seems like an after thought. Most other sight bases on octagon barrels seem to look like an after thought also. Some, not all. I also don't care for the round/octagon on the bfr's. It's like it can't decide what it wants to be. This thread needs lots of pics! Here's my one and only octagon. Obviously it fulfills my desired look. Integrated sight base on a flat top... Snyd, I just never get tired of looking at that revolver. Mart

I'm waiting on an octagon barreled 45 to come home from Huntington. I should have it soon as Jason says it went out for marking about 2 weeks ago. The base gun was a 3 screw 357. I sent it off to Huntington with a 5 1/2" gallager octagon barrel, an old army grip frame, and a bisley hammer and trigger by Dave Clements. Steel ejection rod housing, and front site set up for easy blade changes. It's to have black buffalo horn grips. It's threads like this that are totally responsible for this gun.

you guys have been great with posting the pictures... & on the custom guns, I really like the integrated front sight bases on the octagon barrels... are those machined that way, welded & polished out, or how are they attached???

I love the look of an octagon barrel on a single action. I can't wait to get mine from Harton. He called me about a month ago and said I had 4-6 weeks. It's getting tough waiting now knowing it could be any time.

The integral front sight bases on Gallagher octagons are machined that way. As is the ERH stop which I think is just as cool as the sight base.

Agreed,......the little stob of steel is such a tasteful way of accomplishing what the barrel band does.

That's about what mine should look like from the frame back except I forgot to mention I asked to have it flat topped.

Welcome newguy. This is the same gentleman that has the FA97 22 convertible listed on accurate reloading. I've been talking/texting about it. I almost jumped on this gun as a happy fathers Day present to me. I keep teetering on the fence but Then I would have to move my 97 .22 that I got from Stan. Ivories are fantastic!
Edited to add that I Just saw that his 22 has a new owner.
