A guy I have dealt with before shot me an email a couple of weeks ago saying he wanted to move a couple of guns he had Andy Horvath work on. One was a model 58 that Andy rechambered to a tight 45 Colt then he installed a thin profile M&P style 4" barrel that Jim at Clearwater had rebored to 45. Andy put on a more modern style front sight but overall it looks like a fixed sighted mountain gun. About as good a N frame personal carry gun as I guy could imagine and I think it was Kurac off the S&W forum who took the factory target stocks and thinned them down to the classic "coke" profile. I have small hands but they even feel good in my hands.
The second Smith was a 4" model 25-5 that had oversized throats so it was sent to Andy along with a model 57 41 mag cylinder to get the cylinder rechambered to tight 45 Colt and a slightly taller front sight pinned on. The guy is a John Linebaugh fan and when he read Johns article on the 45 Colt he noted that John says he cares the same gun as his daily carry piece. With the plan to use this as a the same gun the guy did not even have Andy reblued the gun, just do the action work. Not sure if I really need another model 58 in 45 Colt since I have a 5" conversion by Hamilton but I don't see Andy's work come up for sale often so I grabbed them. I will try to take a few pictures when I get some decent conditions.

If you decide you can't abide a pair of 45 Colt M58's, there's a good home in Canby one could go to...

Oh and I forgot to mention that the guy also sold me a 5" pencil profile Military Police style barrel he had Clearwater rebore to 45 Colt. Go to Bowen's workshop page and see what he did with one of these thin little barrels๐ Either an original M&P gun converted or a brother 5" model 58 in 45 Colt. Visions of sugar plums danced through his head!
