Paul did you take the peep sight off? Yes sir. We tried it but he just couldn't find the front sight with it. He was having a hard time trying to keep the front sight in the peep and on target at the same time. I assumed he would have an easy time with the peep sight because that's what he started with on his rifle a few years ago. I guess the shorter sight radius made it more difficult for him. I put the blade back on and after I got it regulated he could hit his targets with ease. When he wasn't shaking. The gun was a little heavy for him so he would get tired. After a bit of a rest he could easily hit what he wanted for 4-5 shots. The more precise sight picture of the fiber optic front with the notch rear is what worked for him.

Great pics! Other than the glass targets,,,, I see nothing but a great time by y'all. With glass,,, you can never completely clean it up. May I suggest other things that react as well? Such as; Old produce, full, unopened out of date soda cans, balloons, Neaco wafers, cheap lolipops, & just about anything cleanable or biodegradable?

Worth the price of admission to find out what works best for him. I can't abide a fiber optic sight, but I didn't know it until I tried it. Wish I figured out more of what worked when I was Taters age lol. Getting ready to try a couple new sights on a dedicated hunting revolver build and it's entirely possible they will be failures but money well spent to know one way or the other.

Thanks Tyrone- you are absolutely right on the glass targets. I will never do that again. Took me the better part of an hour to clean up what I could see! Your other suggested reactive targets will be in the line up next shooting session.
Steve- yes sir a Ruger binky would be the ticket for Mater. He and his brother are very close and I look forward to the time when all three of us can share the same adventures. Thanks a million for the help with the brass! In this little canal they call a river you'll find Brim, Bass, Gar and Mudfish, a nasty looking thing with teeth! They put up a good fight though. We even had a few Manatee swim up this river a few months ago. I've never seen them in this river.
Dave- you are correct on trying different things. Your fiber optic front made it very easy for Tater to see his front sight and it is precise enough for him to hit his targets at the distance he's shooting at right now but I suspect as he gets older and starts gaining proficiency and adding distance he will want a better front sight. That's ok though, just means BoBo will need to add another 6 gun. It's a win win!

Thanks for sharing your adventures with Tater again, Paul. Priceless. You could write a book, Adventures With Tater, and later More Adventures with Tater and Mater. I don't see any spinners in that tackle box. I was trout fishing in unlikely water once, waiting for my Dad and Uncle to come around with the boat and was surprised when I had a fairly strong strike, right there by the loading ramp. Turned out to be a nice little small mouth bass. I could make some size 2s and 3s if you'd like.

We usually fish in some pretty heavy weeds and cover down here so weedless rigs are the order of the day. I'll be having some adventures with my granddaughter this weekend. She's the same age as Tater. All three of us are going Bigfoot hunting Saturday. It should be quite the adventure!
