I'm still at the point of filling the coffers with factory ammo, but am getting close to ready to start loading for the 6.8 SPC... all my factory ammo is 115 grain bullets... I currently hand load for .243 Winchester with 100 grain bullets... I'm thinking I might want to load 130 grain bullets in the 6.8 SPC... at minimum I want a decent 115 - 120 grain hunting bullet, but if I can find a 270 hunting bullet that would perform well at SPC velocities in the 130 grain weight, that would be preferred... I'm currently looking at Sierra Pro Hunter 110 grain bullets as the lightest I'd like to use ( originally a varmint bullet for the 270 Winchester, but they hint it's an adequate hunting bullet at 6.8 velocities ) again the weight is a little light for what I'd like... also looking at the Sierra Game King 130 grain bullets but I'm sure these were designed around 270 Winchester velocities, & I'm not sure they would perform their best at SPC velocities... anyway... those that hunt... hogs for example, with the 6.8 SPC... what are you using for bullets, & are they performing well??? BTW... my SPC's are not semi autos... one a custom built Remington 700, the other a factory Contender Carbine barrel Remington, is the bottom gun in this pic...

I run it in 3 firearms, a 14" Contender, a 16" Bushmaster, and a 16" Ruger M77. I've taken several deer. coyotes, and feral hogs with the cartridge. I prefer the 100 to 110 gr'ers, finding the 130's restrict too much powder space.

Thanks for the reply... I did e-mail Sierra today & they responded very quickly... they recommend the 110 Pro Hunter for the 6.8, for hogs & deer... they don't feel their hunting bullets at 130 grains will expand enough reliably at 6.8 velocities...
curious if there are any good 115 or 120 grain bullets that would work well on hogs & deer at the 6.8 velocities???

Hornady 120gr SSTs. Check out the Hornady 130gr Interlocks. They're supposed to be too long for an AR, but you won't be limited by their mag length.
SSAs 110gr Accubond at ~2600fps turns off whitetail like hitting a switch. I've heard guys like SSAs 95gr TTSX is supposed to be big medicine on both hogs & black bear.

I've got a Remington custom shop model 7 in 6.8 and a few ARs. I tried but no deer this year with the 6.8. There is a man on the local forum that uses these on hogs and is having good luck with them, They have a 105 and a 120 grain and also a 95 grain in a non cavity back design. www.cavitybackbullets.com/category-s/106.htmLots of info here also 68forums.com/forums/Ronnie

those bullets "look" expensive... but look like they are performing well... I'm hoping for something "reasonable" in price that's still capable of medium sized game...

thanks for the links... I've already got a box of the Sierra 110's... ( BTW... I did read through the bullet ratings on the 6.8 forum you linked ) thanks for that... after doing so, I did look at the 120 Hornady interlock as well, but haven't seen them in stock anywhere... they seem like the closest to what I'm looking for... on the 6.8 forum, the guy that rated the Sierra 110 did not rate it well... though I've learned to take everyone's reviews with a grain of salt those hollow base copper bullets you listed earlier came out to like $0.75 before shipping, so they aren't much different than the Barns in price... don't know why ( well... it's probably mostly the price ) but I've been dragging my feet on most of the solid copper bullets... most look like they perform well

The 95 grain from cavity back shoots well in my model 7, 5 into an inch at 100 yards at 2950 FPS using RAMSHOT exterminator powder and hornady brass. Ronnie

The kids shoot a lot of hogs at my in laws ranch with the reduced 243 Hornady SSTs (87 grains at 2800 fps) and they are an absolute killer on the hogs - usually from a blind and on average at 100 yards. Hogs here in North Texas range from 50 to 250 pounds - normally. Hopefully that gives you a data point on the smaller side.

The 110gr Accubonds are nice.
BTW, Midway's showing the 120gr Hornady Interlock in stock right now.

I know I am really late to this one but everyone of you need to try the 120 gr SST by hornady it is the best I have found for Hogs. Try Sportmans den for the best price on these I got them for about 20.00 per box and BTW I have seen them as high as 36 dollars per box. I use them in an AR they are NOT too long for the magazine.
