Ugly in a nice way.... Mine wear Hogue grip and Bowen sight upgrades. That tall front sight was driven by heavy bullets. The 44 and 480 contain spring kits. The 454 DID NOT like the reduced power hammer spring and the original is back in it.

Sorry if we are getting off topic here with the SRH love. Stan, that is pretty much how I set mine up also, but with the Bowen S403 front sight (which my Redhawk Kodiak also wears). I leave the hammer spring alone, only changing the return spring.

Hmmm... I wonder if a std Redhawk could be altered to accept a Super Reds trigger group. You'd need the whole thing of course, plus the hammer from the Super. I'm Redhawk "poor" at the moment or I'd try it.

I sent a Bisley frame to Jack Huntington a few weeks ago to be modified and have grips made for it. I was ready to settle in for the 6-8 week time frame I was quoted. To my surprise, A package arrived last week with my finished project in two and a half weeks door to door (!!!).
After two brief phone conversations with Jack yesterday and today, I shipped my Kodiak Redhawk out to him for a trigger/action job today.
This thread is probably to blame though.

I took the hammer out of my SP101 tonight and it looks to be an identical configuration to the Redhawk hammer. Will the stoning technique in the link work for the SP101?

Haven’t worked on the SP 101. Expect Redhawk technique applies. Start with very, very gentle squeezing of the single action----check for a glitch, which could indicate a burr in the single action notch on the hammer. Check for burrs or tool marks on the sear tip of the trigger. Do not touch the sear notch in the hammer without a sharp-corner white ceramic stone. David Bradshaw

David Bradshaw I'll take some pictures and send them to you before I tinker with it. If you don't mind. Thanks Mr. Bradshaw.

OK, a little update. I want to thank f3 for starting this thread and Max and others for suggesting Jack Huntington. This thread got me to send my Redhawk to JRH Advanced Gunsmithing, and it came back yesterday a "new gun".
When I talked to Jack, he said my Redhawk would come back with a smoother double action pull, and with the single action pull on par with the feel of a good S&W. He said that most people call BS on him when he says that, but that he stands behind it. And with good reason !
I would say that is a very accurate description of the job he did. The double action is much smoother, especially once the cylinder starts to rotate, and the singe action let off is exceptionally crisp.
On my Lyman digital trigger scale, the single action averages 3lbs nine ounces with the stock spring installed. The double action is consistently 11 lbs five ounces.
The turn around time was a very impressive 15 days door to door.
It gives me a new respect for the Redhawk !

$125.00 (plus shipping of course, which was less than $50).
