Good shooting Tyrone! Just curious, does your UltraDot have a 4 moa dot? Would like to hear your thoughts on the LT after some range time with it.

Well,,,, I hadn't had time & all to play here a bit until this weekend. Sunday,, I went to play with my FA in 454,,, with some 45 Colt loads,,, and found the Burris FastFire II would not work. New battery,,, nada. Second new battery,,, nada. So,, off it came & a new UltraDot LT was added. So,, off to the range for zeroing it. I got it close & quit,,, as I was getting tired & the sun was setting. But here it is,, 50 yds, from a rest,,, (yes,, I know most are standing here,,, but this is just the beginnings,) my FA 83 in 454 shooting some 45 Colt. A Miha slug,,, PCed & sitting on 10.2 grns Unique. Lit off by Win WLP. Yes,,, those are 1" pasters,,, for a 2" square. And yes,,, there are other pasters over other holes I shot before I got this final group. I'm going to try & go back out & fine tune it a bit,,, off hand & out to 100 yds eventually. I need pasters that look like bullet holes

Once upon a time you could purchase fake bullet holes for your auto windshield at your local auto parts store. Just a little hijack.

The other day I was at the range wringing out a S&W 27-2 with some 357 loads and threw in the 500L just cuz I shot 10rnds of a 540gr load at 1119fps at the 7" paper plate. Standing unsupported, two handed. The front site is too short so it shoots about 6 inches high at this range, turned out to be 21.5 yds. I was guesstimating my POA lower than the plate and managed to put 9 on it, one off to the left. 4.5inch group for the 9. Gallagher says he's working on my taller front site blade. I also practiced shooting Bullseye Style. Standing, one handed. This load is 455gr, 15gr HS6, in the past I've chronied it at about 975. I tell you what, with the Rob Rowen grips with the nice palm swell it's easy to shoot like this. 4 inch group. I'll push the target out next time and see what I get.

Soon as I get the bore issue dealt with on the 480 I'll get back on track with the challenge. It has caught my imagination and is in our best interest if hunters. Kinda hard to pack that bench and gunvise around.

I'm going to give this another try tomorrow with my 625. Hopefully I'll get a bit more sunlight to work with.

I had an interesting but fun experience at the range tonight. With 40 degree weather and gusts up to 50 mph I was physically fighting the wind to keep my sights on target. Try as I may I could not go 5 for 5 at 50 yards but it was doable at 30 yards on command. At 40 yards I could manage 5 out of 6 but never got 5 in a row. By 50 yards the wind was too strong at the end of the shooting bay and I could barely manage 3 of 6.

Real shooting. Congrats om the effort. Remember crawling in this thicket on a rainy windy day in first week of Dec.. Weather was horrible, figured deer would be back into the thickets so went to the worst one. The deer were there, I could smell wet fur a few times but never saw hide. With the swirling wind they knew I was there, somewhere, were spooky but wouldn't leave the thicket. Never did see enough hide to have a decent shot but always wondered what kinda shot it would have been. Who practices shooting one handed from their knees ? Had 44SBh that day, as a long gun would have been futile.

It was pouring rain last night so I didn't feel like dragging out the 6" steel but I did manage to go 5 for 8 on a 10" plate at 100 yards on the first cylinder. Getting a little better each time I try to reach out on steel.

Yes, standing and shot freestyle with irons. They recently put up a permanent 10" piece of AR500 on the 100 yd rifle range so I hid under the shelter area to test my new loads while it was raining.
The gun is a S&W 929 with Bowen Rough Country rear and Hi Viz green front sight. Full disclosure, I do have it set up for competition with a 5.5 lb trigger so it's pretty slick. I'll try to dig up a picture.

It seems that I haven't taken pictures of the gun since I put iron sights back on in December. Here's some video of the same gun though, the Bowen rear and green front are my favorite sight combination:
