Has anybody had the work done to their .22?

I hate to say this , because I'm a Ruger man . The last 2 SS Ruger and 1 was a baby Vaquero , I had leaded up in 100 rds and you couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with them . The cylinder are not chamber , they are drilled straight threw. I got this Cimarron and I did a test and NO LEADING after 500 rds and the cylinders are chamber.



Try this with your 22 revolver . Take a loaded 22 lr , If it falls in it drilled , if it stop like pic it chamber

Interesting. I'm a Ruger guy too, and have been considering a Baby Vaquero. I hope Ruger isn't cutting corners now.

I bought my pop a Ruger Bisley .22 about 11yrs ago IIRC. It spit a little lead, but then seemed to settle down. He's run untold thousands of rounds through it since, and never cleaned the barrel. It looks like a Lab puppy that hasn't grown into its paws yet, but feels great in the hand and shoots very, very well.

All .22LR chambers are "drilled through". The .22LR uses a heeled bullet so the bullet is the same diameter as the cartridge case. Some are just more generous than others.

I think, for the cost, I'd rather just buy the Freedom Arms sixgun and be done with it. My experience with 22 cal single sixes has been frustrating.

Well I don't know what FA .22's are going for nowadays but I guarantee I spent less on my single six! $250 for the gun several years back and $150 to Alan Harton to work on it. A perfect trigger, perfect timing and dead nutz accurate.

Luckily the Single Six Bisley I got just a few years ago shot good right out of the box.

I thought the issue of the single six was the slightly over bore barrel to handle both the 22lr and 22 mag. On Clements website he came up with a proprietary method of accurizing the single six without a barrel or cylinder swap. Supposedly increasing the accuracy 30 to 60% or so. That's what I am asking about ;D

Here is all you need to know foxtrapper...If Dave Clements says it will improve it, it will. He is a gunsmith of the highest character and does business the right way. Of course most guns accuracy potential is limited by the user (all of mine included). My point is that if you aren't happy Dave Clements will fix it or make it right. I challenge you to find me someone unhappy with his work. He'll do a great job, send it off, you'll be pleased.

My SS is a 2" gun at 35 steps which looks just awful with those little 22 holes...it still scares the hell outta tree rats...notice I said "scares them" many just laugh at me...sometimes I get lucky, I just love shooting them and if you use "22 shorts" they'll even stick around for a couple more chances. I'm gearing up for the Tree Rat opener in PA...

Most people that buy the Ruger SS shoot a box or 2 threw it and never see a problem the gun has and when they miss they think they screw up the shot not the gun . I shoot over 200 rds at a practice session and the SS won't cut it . The grip is the same as my Vaquero and only 4 oz lighter which makes it the perfect gun if it would shoot without leading ....

I put 8,000-10,000 rounds a year through my little Old Model Single Six with nary a complaint. Never had a problem with leading or inaccuracy. Don't even remember the last time I swabbed the bore. It's shoots just as well as my K-22. Just fitted it with an original XR3 and CLC claro walnut for a feel closer to a Colt.

Yo Craig! You shooting a pre 150K serial number Single Six? I understand those guns have 22 LR barrels.
Yo Markbo! Don't be snubbing the FA rimfire guns just because they cost a few extra bucks.... I have run accross shooters who were very sure that their FA 252 could shoot with my $2000+ Hammerli 208S that IMHO is universally recognized as the best of the best.......

I am snubbing nothing axe...Perhaps the SS can't hold a candle to the FA in quality and out of the box accuracy, but for a whole lot less money, I think my SSs are perfectly useful and accurate. I think $500 vs $1975 is more than a few 100!

Besides, I can always whip out my Pardini Nygord Master if I need to compete with someone. I used to have money, remember?

I'm saving the barrel from my 5 digit single six (22 lr bore) to add to a NM to be named later as a dedicated 22 lr gun.
Of course, I won't know if i "need" it till I figure out the gun.

I'm guessing your gun is over 20 yrs old when they chamber them and not drilled the cylinder straight threw . Are the rims counter sunk and see is the 22 fall in the front cylinder and I would the serial number so I could find one .I can't afford Clement's gun , It's what I need .
