WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT?

Just what is a "mid-size frame" .45 revolver? Assuming the Colt to be the full sized gun, with the Ruger and Freedom Arms to be magnum sized, what would be mid sized? And what kind of .45 would be small sized?

Mr. Bob, The new model flat top Rugers, the old model 357s, and the New Vaqueros are referred to as "midsized", while the super Blackhawk size frames and the original Vaqueros are referred to as large frame guns.
So by those standards, the Colt SAA would be considered a midsize frame.

If anything is mid-size, there must of necessity be a larger size and a smaller size. And we are talking .45 revolvers here. Bob Wright

Semantics, but here we go...
Large frame Ruger single action - OM 44, OM Super Blackhawk original Vaqueros, NM Blackhawks of the size of the SBH's.
Mid frame Ruger single actions - OM 357, New Vaqueros (I think all of 'em, but not positive) and the NM Flattops in 44 Special and 45 Colt/45 ACP, being on the slightly smaller OM 357 sized frame
Small frame Ruger single actions - the Single Six sized gun.
Itty-Bitty Framed Ruger Single Actions - the Bearcats.
I'm sure there are errors in the above statements, 'cause I'm not up on the factory 41's, 30's and such, but you get the general idea anyway.
For 45 Colts, I've only seen large framed and mid framed Rugers. Don't think there is room for five 45 sized holes in a Single Six cylinder, even after milling out the receiver, but you never know, somebody may have tried it!

Funny thing about that can... No one in my family drinks. Yet I found that can on my property while I was out there working one day. Since no one in my family are drinkers, I concluded that the beer can had to be trespassing. We have signs up on the property that say "No Trespassing. Violators Will Be Shot. Survivors Will Be Shot Again." Since we have the signs up, I shot it. I left it laying in the gully where I found it as a warning to all cans who think it is ok to trespass on Joe S's land. No sir, I don't think I will get my 5 cents back, but that is the best 5 cents I will ever spend if it keeps the cans off my property... Nice Idea...Thanks

I think "mid frame single action, caliber 45" is abbreviated here by "mid frame 45".

Here's my 5 shot mid frame 45 that started life as a 44 Special. I have become fond of the modification that Huntington does to the plow handle grip frame as it handles recoil so well, but I do think the Bisley grip frame looks better. I really like this one for its packability and a 45 will take care of anything that needs taking care of.

O.K. I'll admit to sort of yankin' y'all's chains a little, and being sort of obnoxious and nit-pickin'.
My point being, unless we're specific and specify Ruger frames, then the term "mid size frame" is sort of ambiguous.
I hope I didn't offend anyone, especially this close to Christmas!

No worries here. I figured there was a lesson among the dialog being the Ruger connoisseur you are!
