Not my first but I really like it and will be carrying it as a secondary as well as a primary SD gun. I have some Federal Hydrashoks but I want something a little better. Tell me what you use or what you woul use and why. I am currently looking at Buffalo Bore but don't know where to settle. Any help would be appreciated. Chris

Question. What is your primary SD weapon?

Glock 19 usually.
Occasionally this will be a primary such as when I run to the store, riding my motorcycle, etc.

Speer 140gr +P Gold Dots hit to the sights for me and have been my carry load for a long time.

When I carried a 642 I too catried the Gold Dots. They shot well and were controllable.

Wow! Buffalo Bore wants $20 for shipping. I don't know if I'm that willing despite how much I want to try them. That equates to $2.50 per round when shipping is figured in.

I thought the 38 spl +P gold dots were 135 grain, or maybe they have both, or perhaps it's been too darn long since I've looked at them....? Otherwise I'd just used the old 158 grain lead +P hp from federal or winchester.

I have some Remington UMC 125 gn Semi Jacketed Hollow Point +P that are half jacketed half lead.
I tried the Federal Jacketed Hollow Points short barrel low recoil low flash. They were very accurate.

Plenty of guys have done the legwork to compare what's out there. Might be able to find a suitable alternative until what you want comes in stock. Speer 135gr GD +Ps are rated pretty well. My personal carry load in the .38 Special is the old FBI Rem. 158gr Lead SWC HP +P or the Winchester loading.
Buffalo Bore makes a std pressure load with a similar bullet that I've chronographed at just over 800fps from a 2"bbl.
