You know it is funny but Bill does make a good point in his post. Over the years I have lost out on more opportunities for cool guns by going through the overanalysis paralysis than I ever have because of lack of funds. By that I mean I see a neat gun then I start the mental seesaw of "I wonder if-" or a myriad of other questions. For me, I finally learned to focus on a small segment of the gun world that interests me, learn what I could about those small segments and stay away from stuff I either don'e really like or know about, no matter how good the price. As many of you have seen, I enjoy custom revolvers, 41's and short barreled bisley hammered single actions. When threads come up on 1911s or custom long range rifles or AR style rifles I stand on the sidelines, listen, learn and watch. That way if and when I decide to delve more into one of those areas I hopefully will have gained some background knowledge before I drop some money. What this rather narrow focus does do is take away a lot of the analysis process when one of those guns in my chosen area of interest pops up like the one Oregon45 pointed out in the initial thread and it mentally frees me up of a lot of the question and mental seesawing. It also means I can feel pretty confident in the purchase itself form a financial stand point. The guns I have done the "worse" on are guns I bought without doing my homework on.
I know none of this is new territory but with a lot of us old guys getting long in the tooth and more young guys getting into the game I thought it might give some of you just starting out in the custom or collecting world something to maul around in you minds for a second or so.

You know Doug, I have not even looked at the leather pictures! I just know a USFA short barreled 44 Special with a bisley hammer is TOUGH to find and well worth grabbing. The leather did not even get looked at yet.

Picked the wrong day not to check in! Very nice snag Robb! That's one style USFA, and in nice caliber (no chance of slipping something loaded too hot in by accident!) that I'd love to run across someday.
I know I'm not alone in letting you know that if you think you need a new home for it, you know some places to start....
