I have no idea what, if anything has been done to the internals of this revolver. If I owned such a gun, the first thing I would do is change the hammer spring to factory or heavier specs. When the primer receives too light a strike it will not produce anything that could be called a group. It is not an expensive fix to try and may or may not cure this malady, but it is worth the try.
P.S. If you do try this please let us know if it worked or not.

I really appreciate the replies and sorry if I wasted you guys time. A friend wanted that hunter worse than I did and I picked up a longslide Glock 10mm to replace it.
Got a new Ultra dot 30mm and ruger rings for salr though.

Now about that Bisley Hunter 44, Geeez I wish I'd have known It's next on my "Must Have" list If'n your buddy decides he don't like it, give me a holler Keep us posted on how you like the Glock LS 10mm. It will work fine on deer as long as you do your part and punch it through the boiler room. BigBore44

The .44 mag and H110 with 23.5 grains of powder working up to 25.0 grains. What are your thoughts on h110 250 grain cast bullet SWC. Gun Ruger Super Blackhawk 10 1/2 barrel.
