One of my guns (44 special) shoot 3" left. The sight is also too wide for my tastes. If i filed the sight to make it narrower, would i file the right or left side to move POI to the right?
I think the right, right?

Well, now, let's think this thing through. Your gun shoots to the left, so you want to move your group to the right. You move your front sight in the opposite direction you want your shots to go. And filing the left side has the effect of moving your sight to the left.
WOW! Taxed my brain there!

I think the right, right? *** Joe.... you're lucky the front sight is thicker than you want. To file the right side of the front sight will pull the muzzle to the right. The effect is the same as moving the blade to the left. Go ahead and file the right side of the blade. The rear face (aiming surface) of the blade must be as wide or wider than the muzzle end of the blade. Otherwise, glare from the sun will pull your shots toward the glare. Various blade type front sights made for target shooting often taper toward the front----to eliminate glare. David Bradshaw

There is no distinguishable light between the rear blade and front sight for me when aiming.
Front sight width is 0.121". My 480 has the Sixshot sight on it that is 0.1" and it is very nice to aim.
Thanks yall.

I'm with David on this. File the right side. When you center the blade it will move the muzzle right. Bullet impact as well.

I took about 0.010" off. Also added some height with a tiny brass rod. It is shooting about 6" high at 25 and 10" or so high at 50

I had same issue with my Bulldog. Yes, file right side of front sight to move hits to the right. A little needle file while watching TV. Oh, right side of sight, as when holding the gun to shoot. The devil is in the details kinda thing here.

I find after filing that a ladies nail buffer is best for bringing correct finish back.

Did you remove your front sight before filing? I'd sure like see a pic of the finished product. BTW, I'm in central MS also and shoot at the Byrum range. Thanks.

Hey glad to know ya! The sight on the blued guns are permanently attached. Not removeable like the Single Sixes or stainless Blackhawks. The bead came off today, so gonna play with it more tomorrow. I used a home made safe sided file and masking tape to prevent damaging the gun.

Silver solder didn't work so i am using epoxy. Put it on at 11 this morning. Gonna let it sit 24 hours and trim it back.
