It's a great year for Alaskan Blueberries. We've been out a few times and have put about 90lbs in the freezer. First you need a couple things.... Bug Dope and Bear Medicine. Off and the 454 Redhawk will do. Then you need transportation and a crew! Add a few nice days and you end up with this...

Great stuff all around there. Blueberries are becoming a huge crop here in central Florida. I'll have to use your story as proof, to my wife, that we can no longer go pick them until I have a custom big bore Redhawk in my possession. Thanks for the share Snyd.

very nice. handloads or factory ammo? Homecast/Handloads 355gr wfn from a custom LBT mould. I load em over LilGun to 1300fps from the 4" Redhawk. I traded into some nickel Starline 454 brass and use it for my field loads that get packed more than shot. I use brass brass in the same load for practice shootin.

You deliver to Idaho, don't you? Looks good. I'll trade you some Blueberries for some Huckleberries!!! Matter of fact I we were just in Idaho pokin around in June for a few days. If we ever leave Alaska it'll be for Idaho. I'm from western MT.

At camp we've a meadow of 5-10 acres that is mostly small wild blueberries, what the locals call huckleberries I think. Don't know how well they are doing myself but guy that was there last week got a surprise when he touched off a shot at the 200yd berm thats in the meadow. A big black bear jumped up and ran for the woods. We put the berries in pancakes and brook trout. 80 lbs ! Just how many uses have you come up with for them ? A good problem to have !

Is that a Filson hat Synd ? I bought a Filson hat yrs ago for use in Penn's trout season in mid april. It did keep my head dry thru a two day rain. A week later though, I found it shrunk to 5yr old size. Had the inner leather band on another Filson hat rot out within a year. Sigh..

Wow that's a lot of blueberries! I thought I was doing well here in Idaho with the dewberries, thimbleberries and blackberries, but I've yet to have a haul quite that big! I just need to find some huckleberries..

I have 19 blueberry plants. They yielded 32 gallons this season. At least that's what I got off them. The squirrels and crows certainly got a cut too.

It was my FIL's fishin hat.

These Wild Alaskan Blueberries are a different animal. Super high in anti-oxidants. Like 10x the amount.. They've tried to grow them commercially in the lower 48 but cannot do it. It has something to do with the Lichen. They are close to Huckleberries but more tart. They have a higher water content than commercial blueberries, which means unless you have the right recipe, a blueberry pie can turn into blueberry soup!
