Classic gunleather being my passion, a good bit of my catalog of holsters are re-creations of leather made by the great makers of yesteryear. Of these, the designs of S.D. Myres are at the top of my list. The visual lines of the holsters and the carving patterns all work together to create outstanding examples of the makers art. The have become my favorite to build.
For the foreseeable future, I am the caretaker of these three original S.D. Myres stamps, which include the makers marks and the patent stamp for the holster patent issued on September 7, 1937.
The oldest one, which is on the far left is well used as can be seen by the mushroomed head from the mallet blows of skilled craftsmen, likely including old Tio Myres himself!
Unlike an old sixgun of unknown provenance, whose history can only be guessed at, we know where these stamps have been. The backs of holsters carried by General Patton, FBI Agent Jerry Campbell, and Col. Charles Askins just to name a few.
It is a heck of a thing holding it in your hand, and very humbling to actually use it on a piece of leather. I will not build a counterfeit Myres holster, so don't ask...but these will be used in conjunction with the Barranti stamps on collector grade gunleather in a new series I call the Barranti-Myres line. Faithful renditions of yesterday's gunleather for today's shooter, made in the tradition of S.D. Myres.
Thanks for looking!

I was recently honored to have received a shiny cardboard box from PA that contained one of these treasures Mike is describing. These aren't the best pics but you can get the idea. This holster is EXACTLY what I needed for a little GP100 in 41 Special. When they are together on your belt, it's amazing. You don't notice it at all. Perfect combination. Mikes work continues to impress me and I couldn't have asked for a better rig than the one that was delivered. The stamps are a very cool touch that you will not find anywhere else. A nice way of reconnecting with the past! The knives are a couple from Kim Ralston, Kral here on the forum. He used sheep horn in this pair. We liked another he did so well, we had to have more! Now off to Mike for sheaths!! As I have mentioned, finer blades and holsters won't be found and neither will you find a finer pair of gentlemen to work with! Thanks guys!

That's so cool I'm at a loss for words....
But sniffing out the old dry dusty trails of the past masters is something Doc and the Dawgs have in common. Now Doc, whose turn is it to pour a little snakebite..?

I've been watching this unfold for 10 years now & every time I think I've seen it all Mike unloads another Masterpiece on us. Now I'm sitting here thinking, which gun deserves to ride in something that one of my grandson's will pass on to one of his son's, along with the story of who the guy was that could build such an amazing work of art. My wife is sitting next to me, weaving a pine needle basket that has a hand carved piece of Barranti Leather stitched into the bottom of it as I look at these beautiful holsters, I'm out of words!
