I had originally thought 38 special for that OM Single Six but I am now leaning toward the 41 special. I have a gun in line at Alan's now. Hopefully this will be the next one. I'm leaning toward 38 Super for my OMSS by Harton.

My 9mm Harton Single Six is pretty sweet but it's a new model. Built on a 32 center fire frame.

I think a 9mm or 38 super would be nice in a SS.
Mr. Harton has an old model of mine right now waiting it's turn to go under the knife. It is a 6 shot 22 that identifies as a 5 shot 357...

I feel that surgery will be a huge success.

Alan told me he's looking forward to doing the Single Six 357. Said he had always wanted to do one.

I think we are equally excited. I have wanted a custom for a long time but wanted something that would stick with me and i could shoot even if my body started to get sensitive to recoil. But i also wanted something capable of taking whitetail deer and affordable to shoot if i ever found myself needing to buy factory ammo. Also being able to find factory ammo was a consideration if that time comes. 357 made sense to me. But I am already thinking of my next one. Maybe an octagon barreled NM 32 Single Six. Maybe a 327/32-20 convertible? The S6 is perfect packin size so i think i may try to have a couple made before branching out to Blackhawks.

would the 45acp work in the single six?
I know length wouldn't be an issue but I reckon the width of the cartridge and the width of the barrel might be too much for the single six frame.
what about 44 Russian?

Zane, the 41 Special is as big as I have seen in a single six.

Yes i think 41 is as big as can fit due to the amount the cylinder window has to be opened.
The 45 would be sweet but i think too larger.
Now a 40 S&W/ 10mm dual cylinder would be saweet!!

Sounds like some Great projects in the works! I cant wait to see some finished pieces. I have a question: This 41 Spl I keep hearing about, how much difference (balistically) between it and, the 44 Spl? I realize it's being built on a smaller framed gun, but can it be handloaded using any published data found for the 41 special, or must you load specifically for the smaller single six frame?? Thank you BigBore44

I cant speak for it personally but i would think being a 5 shot, even on a smaller cylinder that it would be safe for published data. Cant imagine a smith putting his name on that kind of liability.

Thank you BigBore44 Hopefully Bushog will chime in here. He had Alan build my 41 Special on an old model Single Six. I'm pretty sure Alan had a suggested limit to the bullet weight and velocity for the little gun. Some guys have them built on mid-frame guns and I imagine anything goes on those, especially in a 5 shot version. Tim

I have an OM SS in the back of the stash for a project like this, originaly thought .38spc, but the 41 spc would pretty nice. On a NM , a .357 is something I can vividly imagine, Get yours done eskimo so we can see it.
