Shot the little monster this morning -- .44 Mag birdshead Vaquero with Double Tap 320 grain WFNs. Without touching the front sight (it's shooting way low), I was still impressed with the little revolver. Shot this five-shot group at 20 yards. It's a neat little revolver, but it needs a more useful grip -- or lighter loads and that ain't gonna happen.

Don't know if it counts, but the wife called me as she drove onto the property to advise me that EIGHT bucks were trying to invade our orchard. I had just strapped on a Browning Hi-Power for work, so I ran out into the orchard and set our Border Collie on them. They didn't move quite fast enough for my taste, so I slipped a 9mm into the dirt to encourage them a bit.
Fish & Game is giving me a couple of free tags July 1. No restrictions, any weapon, any time. Around here we call that "early venison".

BigBore44,, we ALL shoot off our mouth a lot! I slipped out yesterday & touched off about 42 rounds of 40 S&W in my DA revolver at a new target set. I also shot 6 serious heavy 45 Colt loads in a 4" Redhawk at a dirt clod at about 35 yds. Well, at a couple of dirt clods as I hit a few. Work today will reflect if I get to shoot anything this afternoon. It also may be too darned hot by then as well.

Did some shooting yesterday chronographing several guns:
PARA-USA Elite LS Hunter 10mm Kimber Stainless Target II Freedom Arms 97/.22 Magnum S&W Model 35 with a 51 .22 Magnum cylinder...
Strange things...the 5" Kimber shot almost all the loads faster than the 6" PARA...and the little 35 shot groups as tight as the FA....
Just one of those days...Bob

I loaded up some 440 gr 500 Linebaugh loads this morning after getting my dies in yesterday. So I took it out and put 5 rounds through it before work. It being my Linebaugh built Vaquero.

My son and I burned a few hundred rounds of 45 acp for Father's Day. He shot his RIA 1911 and I used a S&W645 I just purchased. Great time!
Yesterday shot my FA 454 testing loads for an elk hunt this fall. Trying to decide on gun/load. Can't seem to make up my mind. Also burned some 44 Specials in the '97 too.

To local Pistol & Rifle club this AM. Shot .45 Colt 3 3/4 inch Custom Shop SA, then plinked a couple 100 rounds of .22 RF. Used my custom Single Six, a Hi-Standard Double 9 and my Wilson Combat 1911 .22. Only the Wilson has sights tho I seldom use them. Mostly point shooting at empty cartridge boxes, soda can and bottles, etc. Try to get out once a week to do this. The center fire gun changes, but I shoot the 3 .22s every trip to the range.
