David - thanks for having the match - it was great to see you and Neal, and great to meet some fellow shooters. Joe - thank you for the help getting my Ruger zeroed. We did have a bit of a problem with the 200 yard targets. Seems we forgot to instruct the target setters on how to set rams. I had one single ram take 4 good hits with a 180 Sierra SBT out of my 300x221 XP. When I was shooting my scoped Ruger 357 Mag, my brother rode downrange with the target setters to look at the rams - the rail was about 10 inches wide, and the rams were set to the front of the rail ! After he set them correctly, I cleaned the six targets in my bank at 200 yards (1 turkey - 5 rams) 6x6 - that felt good !

Mr. Bradshaw, thanks for putting the word out on here about the shoot. I drove home thinking about what I learned and experienced today. I don't know how more folks aren't hooked on this style of handgunning. On top of all that - cool guns, and super nice and helpful folks. Wish I lived closer to the range!

For folks just tuning in, "braud357" is silhouette's own Philip Braud. Buried under the mountain of steel shooting he's done, Philip own's the second perfect Revolver 40x40. He still has the Dan Wesson Arms M15-2 Vent Heavy 8-inch which earned the distinction. He is one of the Lone Wolf breed to successfully prowl the silhouette landscape with a .357 Magnum. When I called the Braud brothers to invite them to our pirate steel shoot, they said, "We're on."
Charlie Braud shoots steel with cast bullets exclusively; from bullet making to loaded round, his meticulous preparation parallels Lee Martin's bench rest exactitude.
A couple of shooters signed up had never shot a handgun beyond 50 yards, maybe not even that far. From this day forward these handgunners must confess their six-shooters have toppled steel from 200 yards. We weren't going to let them drift across the firing line without a little TLC. With help from Lee Martin, should soon post pictures. David Bradshaw

David,Philip,Charlie my apologies for not seeing this earlier. I would have drove all night to get there but would have done it none the less. If this is put together again next year, you gents name the bourbon and I will deliver it. I need a crawfish "fix" anyway. Jeff

I was impressed with how many times those rams and turkeys were toppled out at 200 yards!

Sounds like a most excellent gathering of good folks, having some serious fun... I'd love to make one of these gatherings some day, of course I'd have to get practicing like crazy now so not to look too awfully bad. I might better get on the loading bench so I can get more trigger time in, Now! Thanks for sharing this, and I hope y'all have some pics of the event...? BigBore44

I'm new to this forum. I'm Charlie, the other "Braud" brother. It was a great shoot put on by Mr. Bradshaw and I hope he can put another one together real soon. I had a blast and met some new folks. The question was asked above about IHMSA. Here in Louisiana I am the match director at three monthly IHMSA matches. Two are for Smallbore, one in Gonzales and the other in Goldonna. The other is Big Bore and is held in Hodge. Many thanks to all who attended the Safari Silhouette shoot and I hope our paths cross again real soon.
