A few years ago I bought a Freedom 97 in .22lr and while it was gorgeous and perfect in every way, it just didn't speak to me. Truth is, I couldn't shoot it any better than my Single-Six so I couldn't see having the money tied up in it. Well, I just kept thinking about them and thinking that maybe I'd have better luck with a centerfire. I decided to shrink my gun collection rather dramatically recently and seemed to have a bunch of cash on hand and this popped up. I went for a .44 because I just got back into the .44 and it handles everything I'll ever need a handgun to handle with the added benefit that being made on a frame built for the .454 I'm pretty sure I can get all the performance a .44 has to offer. It's only been to the range once but I'm pretty sure it shoots a whole lot better than I do and the first five rounds went into one hole. I think this one is going to stick around for a while.

An FA in 44 sounds like a sweet combo! Looking forward to the range report!

Front sight is from David Clements. I had him make it for my 97 but I'm hoping it works on the 83. Factory front was too tall for my tastes, rear sight had to be fully raised for a 15yd zero. I'll give it a try and get the measurement right on for me.

Thanks Chief. Had Gary Reeder do the grips, it came with stock rubbers.

Thanks Chief... Mr. Clements made one for my 6" 83/41 Magnum with two gold holdover bars.... Holding all the way to the base of the sight blade gives me a 800 yard zero with a 255 grain bullet at 1450 fps... Bought two of these for my 97s...seller is over on the FA Board on Greybeard's Forum...great sight picture... 6.5" .327 top and a 4.25" .41 bottom..
