I guess I need to have a conversation with Dustin. He has had my Vaquero since 2011... What??? Yep. I've been quite patient and not pestered him about it. Guess I need to take a different approach. JW

I believe when he bought more property his hay business has over taken his gun-building. I know I knew that when I sent him my vaquero.
I haven't pestered hm at all. I have sent two texts in this whole time period. I'd rather wait and get what I want then have him hurry.
All the good ones have a substantial wait. John is nearly 2 years out and he is doing this full time.
Bowen turns them out quicker if you get one of his package guns but he has help as does Jack Huntington.

I have no problem with waiting for a quality product, and yes, Dustin has increased is agribusiness and I know that has put a stretch on his time. What Bothers me is that he has started on a gun that arrived two years after mine, and has been in possession on my gun and a very healthy deposit for five years. I will call him tomorrow and see what he has to say. Not going to throw stones without talking to him first. JW

Jack has one other guy in his shop, Jason. He also does a lot of gripmaking and rifle work, most the rest of those guys do neither.
Last I talked to Bowen, he was 6-12 months out on most conversions, as long as they didn't involve an octagon barrel. Why send one to Linebaugh at all? No way I'd wait three years for a Linebaugh when I could have one from Bowen or Huntington in six months.

At least we still have the opportunity in this country to have work like this done, no matter how long it takes. I have waited for 3-5 years a couple of times for projects to get done but luckily I don't spend much time thinking about them once they are sent off. Just a pleasant "touching bases" call every 4-6 months and I know I will be getting their best work instead of hurried work just to get it out the door and me off their back. JMHO of course. I waited over 3 years for both these guns to get completed.

Yeah, I hear that. I asked Mr. Bowen about doing something out of the ordinary a few months ago, he said the backlog was so long they aren't taking non catalog work.

I think I'll have JRH do the next one after I pay for the first.

For what's it's worth I waited just shy of 5 years on a 44 Special conversion from Ben Forkin. It took longer than expected but I have no regrets.

The top gun in my post above is the one Ben did for me. He does great work for sure.

Kings6, that's one of the nicest revolvers I've ever laid eyes on. I'm sure it shoots as good as it looks.

I waited over 3 years for both these guns to get completed. Totally feel the same way. I have waited 5 years to get a 1911 built by John Harrison and Have been waiting on Dustin Gladly. I don't know that there is any better than Dustin. Guys that are good have waiting lists for a reason. I got plenty to shoot until they get here. Doesn't bother me a bit. Most people stew around thinking about the build they want for 2 or three years. This is the way that it is. Glad we have the option. Dustin is awesome!
