Encore 64 emailed me a picture of his SBH 480 Ruger that he had worked over by Gary Reeder. I was as anxious as any to see the picture and he trusted me to post this for him. I really like the grips, new front sight and the finish on this one! I'll leave the rest to the owner of this fine weapon....

Only thing that's not original are the grips. Internal changes include an action job, Reeders Maxi Throat (lengthened Taylor Throat for heavy bullets) and an 11° target crown.
External changes are combination matte / polished finish and a FA front sight.
The gun was excellent when received, but much better now. Gary has my 454 SBH now giving it a similar treatment.
My thanks to Doug for posting this.

That is the first Reeder gun I've ever seen that appealed to me. Looks very nice. What are the grips made from?

White MIcarta. It's also important to point out that Gary will let you choose how your gun is finished. I came up with the polished cylinder on my Davidson's Redhawk 45 Colt. I liked it so well, I had a couple more done the same way.
Any engraving you see on the Reeder guns is done at the customers request.

I will say, I liked the setback trigger he will out in some guns. It feels really nice if you ever handle one.

Nice taste in refinements,, looks good. I am anxious about the Taylor Throating, as I have considered before. Hope to see and hear of a good range report.

The total package reduced the group's by 50%. The gun shot 2-3" with generic loads before, 1-1 1/2" after. I cannot honestly tell you which service improved the grouping.
It could involve all modifications as a package or simply be the result of a much improved trigger.
In all reality, I don't suppose it matters. I have not fired a cast bullet thru the gun yet. But, that will soon change.

I'm usually a fan of plain jane, blue, working, carrying type guns because I'm rough on them. I really like the gun and finish. Has a dressed up look, yet still one that I would holster and hunt with. Love the front sight and grips. The polish gives that touch of class. Look forward to range report.

Last time I was up at Hartons, we tuned up my 454 Casull a bit. Well, really just a trigger job and we did straighten the trigger a bit. But I gotta say, the guy that Reeder has making stocks does a really good job. That one looks really nice Huey!!
Have you shot it? My 454 seems to shoot pretty well, but I admit, I have been too busy with the small bores to shoot my 480 yet...
