The .500 S&W X frame remains the only handgun I have ever fired that bruised my hand. Badly enough I could not shoot for a couple weeks. The .460 isnt nearly as bad and is much different than a .454. Big shove instead of a snappy jerk. I kept the .460 & sold the .500.

I've shot a couple hundred 500gr. full house rounds through my 8 3/8" S&W 500 Magnum with no bruising. Most in one session was about 25 rounds. The gun shoots better than I can shoot it out to 200 yds. No, I didn't need a 500 anything but I wanted a S&W 500 Magnum. I plan to keep it as long as I can hold it, then pass it on to my daughter. She's 5'6", 118 lbs. with normal size woman's hands & shoots it fine. No more than 5 shots in a session, though.
