these last couple days have been beautiful. I had plans on a big heavy cast bullet after reading all of Lee's articles. wanted a 500 grainer, but never got around to it. no need to worry about looking for that ammo Brian. I will have that up and making noise in no time--thanks though

anyone try the bear tooth bullets 280 grain WLN or the 300 grain SSK in the .41 Maggie? Not the 280 but did put 100 of the Penn Bullets 300 SSK through my guns...19.0 grains of H110...don't think I ever chronoed it but should be in the 1275 fps area from a 5.5"...the pull to the right was me not the gun...

I think Jack heated up the trigger gusrd and reshaped it. It doesn't bust my knuckle anymore. If I remember, it took quite a bit of file work to get the "ears" on the top of the gripframe to match up perfectly with the frame.

The 41 is fine cartridge. So are all of the guns in pics here.

One doesn't really "need" bullets over 265 grains in the .41 but it is nice to know that they will shoot.
Don't have the exact figures in front of me but IIRC the sectional density of a 300 .41 is the same as a 320 .429. At 1200+ fps they will penetrate a LONG way....also remember that the .405 Winchester only shoots a 300 grain bullet .411 in diameter...

I have always like to shoot heavier than normal bullets. how much room is left in the cylinder with those 300s?

Have been playing with these in FA 97 recently. Building a load for western cougar trip. Anyone else shooting CEB's?

cm...yes, the nose on the SSK bullet is fairly short so there is lots of room for most cylinders. It does have a long shank however which limits H110 to 18-19 grains.
Those CEB Bullets look really nasty...at 135 grains one can probably make 1500 fps from a 4"...just the ticket for TwoLeggedVermin. They will shoot very low however which will be a problem for S&W 58s. I have shot some of the all copper Barnes and C.O.P. 210s but not for long range accuracy...
