Mighty fine Hogs and I do like that Redhawk. I have always leaned towards the blues. Music AND GUNS

I am still curious what was this load? f3, The load for the Freedom Arms model 83 in 41 mag was listed by John Taffin in the FACA journal. It was 22.0 grains of AA#9 under a 210gr XTP. I used a CCI 350 primer...... This load is for a Freedom Arm`s model 83 .41 mag only....

Thank you for your response. What is the pressure on this?

Wow I have a Blackhawk rechambered to 41GNR (44 mag necked down to 41 ) and with a mild load im getting 1600fps from a 210gr XTP.So 1745FPS in a 41 mag has to be over pressure for sure. Quickload is not always correct but that load is showing 53117PSI
How much beefier is the Model 83 compared to a Ruger Blackhawk ?

How much beefier is the Model 83 compared to a Ruger Blackhawk ? A whole lot beefier than a Blackhawk. First off it has a 5 shot cylinder with the bolt notches between the chambers instead of in line with them as 6 shot cylinders do. Then you have a heat treated 17-4PH cylinder that is super hard and the fact that you have small 41 caliber holes in it, they use the same cylinder for the 500WE. This is the same cylinder that they use for the super high pressure 454 loads so I think the 41 mag load listed is just fine.

That's good to know I would like to have a 5 shot cylinder made for my Blackhawk in 41 GNR in 17-4 Stainless.

Congrats. great pics of a sucessful hunt, nice shooters too. My favorite hog load is a 335 Grn. WFNGC at about 1250 out of a Reeder 7 1/2" Bisley in 45 COLT.
